Finally got the acceptance! D is interested in television production. Waiting on one more school's letter.

I got accepted to Media Production - Concentration in Film! :) But it looks like I'm gunna be going to my dream school instead - NYU Tisch Film! :) I'm an ED applicant and they gave me a lot a lot a lot of money, so yeah haha sorry Emerson!

Congrads everyone

Accepted! (letter arrived very late on the 20th, and I live in CT!) Marketing Communication. Not sure if Emerson is really my first choice...as I might opt for a more traditional Business marketing major from say Bentley U or Isenberg at UMass

Hey! Yea I was accepted a week or so back. I got a spot in the Marketing Communications. Anyone else? I am not sure if it is where I want to go. But so far all three schools I have applied to have accepted me.

Stats:
1540 sat
3.4 gpa

1540 out of 1600? I was deferred for the same major. Emerson isn't my first choice but it would have been nice...bummed.

Emerson doesn't count SATs extremely high. I mean, they're a factor, but not as big of a factor as they would be in, say, the Ivies.

Hopefully I get the acceptance from Emerson next year! lol. I'm a Junior in High school who REALLYREALLY wants to enter their BFA program.

Quick Questions,
1.) Would they allow you to minor in something else?
2.) Any tips/recomendations from those that got didn't get in?

THANKS SO MUCH!

bumpitybumpbump.

You can minor in whatever you want, as far as I know. About 2... I'm not sure if you want tips/recs from people who did get in or not, but I'll just tell you what I did anyway (I got in). I'm heavily involved in extracurrics at my school, have good grades (low 90's, high 80's, unless it's math), good ACT score (30), great teacher recommendations, and a decent essay.

Mind you, as I posted earlier, grades and standardized test scores aren't everything. I remember when I visited the school, an admission guy said that what they really looked for was that you mastered something - at least a consistent A in one subject area, and they weren't too concerned if you got, say, a C in sophomore geometry if you were applying for a writing major. That doesn't mean that you can slack off in your classes, I'd still try to get good grades, but don't freak out if you're not carrying a 4.0 GPA, either.

Really, I'd focus on extracurrics if I were you. But then, I'm not an admissions person; you would be better off visiting an open house or something to see what they're looking for.

(And geeze, you're only a junior and you're already this involved in college stuff? I only started in May, and a lot of my friends started in the summer... I don't know how you can stand it this early)

PS - it just came to mind. Your admissions process will require more work if you want to major in acting or one of the majors that ask for a portfolio. I can't give you a lot of help there; I applied for the writing major.
