EA Notifications

Does BC deny any EA applicants? Or are you either accepted or deferred to regular, no other possibilities?

I didn’t get an email…

This is so stressful and suspenseful… don’t even know how to feel about this at this point, fingers crossed for everyone!

I called Admissions and was told that an email was sent this morning to ALL EA applicants that were deferred. If you did not get an email then you are either accepted or denied. The Admissions Counselor also told me that all applicants will receive notification by regular mail (even those that were deferred) and the notifications are being mailed Friday December 14th. I specifically asked if the deferral email was sent to all deferred applicants or just some and the reply was it was sent to all who were deferred.

So unfortunately I was deferred. I understand my scores were too low, but can anyone tell me if between now and when they review RD apps is there time to retake SAT1, ACT or SATII? Looking to buffer my chances. Thanks! (1940 SAT and 27 ACT).

Thanks for posting this BCalumMom. I must have misunderstood the person I spoke to. She made it sound like not all deferred students were notified. It didn’t make sense to me, so I am inclined to believe what you were told. I certainly hope so for my son’s sake. No news is good news. Good luck to all!

btw guys i didnt know this but BC is restrictive EA so i prob got deferred since i didnt know of that rule lol.

sigh 2130 SAT
32 ACT
Decent ECs
Great essays- thought provoking
– did not get any notification yet. But student from same school was deferred with higher sat :frowning: sigh

Would it be pointless, or a good idea, to retake the SATs and ACTs and send in the scores for when they reevaluate my app…or would it be too late??

I was also deferred. They do reject kids not competitive for admission correct?

You guys/girls are going to be fine. If you don’t get into BC, there are plenty of wonderful institutions out there that will be happy to accept you, and offer you merit scholarships, too. As you must know, not getting into a school is no reflection on you, or how successful you are, or will be in the future. Please stay positive, and do your best. Things usually end up working out for the best.

A lot of high stats got deferred! I’m really not sure what is considered “competitive”… I think it changes year to year. By the way…if you have been deferred and you want to up your scores you can and if would only help. My two cents

It would only help*

I asked the same question on the other thread…

Do they automatically defer all that are not accepted this round?

My son’s stats are not as high as others posted here and he got deferred too…

I just checked the website again, and apparently they do deny students during EA who are deemed “not competitive” enough for BC…

I’m confused as to why they would email deferred students. Luckily I didn’t get an email, and I don’t think I am going to get rejected, but I’m just confused: what is the point of an email to only deferred students?

I’m pretty sure you only get denied if you are real low stats. Like below 25th percentile…
