EA Notifications

ALL deferrals were sent out

@set1012 - that is indeed nervewracking…
i hope i get accepted then - no deferral email for me

@set1012
Thank you so much for reporting that here and clearing it up. Fellow BC applicants, if you fall in the generally admitted range, and you did not receive a deferral email, I suspect there is reason to be cautiously optimistic. As scottj pointed out 80% of EA applicants are either deferred or accepted.

how about international applicants? Do they receive results online or through snail-mail?

So I applied EA for BC. My SAT score is 2140 (770 Math, 740 Critical Reading, 630 Writing).

Im kind of nervous because I did not get a deferral email. Just wanted to see what my chances are. Can anyone give me an opinion?

Thanks

What is your class rank? If you didn’t get a deferral email with those stats I would personally be cautiously optimistic. Take this with a grain of salt but I’d say it looks good for you. Unless your essays are a complete joke or some other fatal error unknown to us by just reading the limited info

Damond3, I am ranked 69 out of 669. My class is very competitive as the difference between the 60-69 is just 0.03 weighted. I hope my essays weren’t bad, I went through many different edits just to perfect it for BC.

You are just barely outside the top 10%. It sounds like you spent a good amount of time on your essay, and molded it to fit BC. I really think you have a great shot! I’d be surprised if they flat out rejected you (quite honestly I don’t see that happening) Anyhow, good luck to you whatever happens!

how about international applicants? Do they receive results online or through snail-mail?

On the Boston College Undergraduate Admissions Facebook page, they state that some preliminary deferrals were sent out Monday, December 10th. There are more being sent out on Friday, December 14th. They apologize for the confusion. I am very disappointed in the way this whole thing has been handled.

I was waiting for them to post an answer on the facebook page. Here it is: “Boston College will mail all Early Action decision letters regardless of decision (Accept, Defer, Deny) on Friday, December 14. Some applicants who are being deferred to the Regular Decision process received preliminary email notification from our office on Monday, December 12th. We hope this has not caused great confusion for students”.

I, too, think they should have been on the ball on this one. Very poor communication IMO compared to other schools we are hearing from in this process.

Lol I saw your post. I asked the original question you commented on. I think they emailed all deferrals, but when he says “some applicants” do you think he means that some applicants were emailed, but only deferrals, or some applicants, meaning some deferrals.

to askBoston: actually it wasn’t my email post on Facebook but I saw the question posted there and had been following. BUT… just now a followup ques. to that admissions respose was posted on FB so I’ll be following that thread to see what admissions says. It would be nice to clear this up although we will all know in a few days!

AHH bad news. Does this mean that I may receive a deferral letter soon? jkladjfkal;kdalfjakl ;fj kl;afa

and yeah, i agree that this could have been handled better.

So we are back to square one! People have called the admission office and been told ALL deferrals were sent by email and now we get contradictory posts again! Oh brother …

so nervous - yet again. i thought i was good …

I’m sorry but I couldn’t find that page in Facebook. Is it worded exactly like that?

I saw the follow-up question just now. Maybe they will clear this mess up once and for all.
