Just wondering - it’s a pretty small time window to do interviews for EA and ED and get the results in for a December 15 decision.
Is the interview at Chicago required for EA/ED? I’ve heard that you should be pretty dynamic to interview for Chicago, or you could be wasting your time and theirs.
I don’t think it’s required. But it is offered (I don’t know if it is offered to everyone or not).
I don’t know what you mean by dynamic. Wouldn’t it always make sense to take any additional opportunity to stand out when you are sitting among a large group of extremely qualified applicants?
PMing you.
I had my interview about 2 or 3 weeks ago…
The interview is truly optional. Neither my daughter nor the other student admitted EA from her school requested one. Barring extreme behavior, I don’t think the interview can hurt you, but if you have made a strong case already in your app, this is an opportunity you can certainly pass on without penalty. functionally, the interview is more about providing you with insight into UChicago than vice versa.
My kid got in EA a couple years ago without interviewing. If you are GREAT at interviewing and really fit the UC mold, it could benefit you. Otherwise, not so much.
I had my interview 2 weeks ago, applied ED.
As others have pointed out, it is not required. I wouldn’t worry if you end up not getting one… unfortunately, as the number of applicants has soared over the past few years, alumni haven’t been able to keep up with the demand for interviews. We try though.
That said, we’ll still be doing interviews over the next couple of weeks. So it’s possible you might still get one.
Thanks for all the thoughts. The interview has been scheduled. Fingers crossed.
