EA or RD AEM school

Does alternate school decrease my chance in primary school?

If I ED at AEM, I have a better or worse chance than RD ? The caliber of getting accepted for ED is lower or higher than for RD ?( because in many chance me thread, when a student has low score, others advise him to ED. If it is harder to get into through ED, why do people apply as ED?

Does ED decrease chance of getting financial aid?

I asked this to an admissions counselor. He said no.

ED has a slightly higher acceptance rate. I have also heard that the ED pool has slightly better stats, but I have not seen anything that shows this to be true (anyone else?). I suppose the advantage to applying ED is that Cornell knows you are very interested and if you can show fit it could play in your advantage.

Once again, I have no stats but anecdotal evidence would say no. The people that I know who were accepted ED were given a FA package that allowed them to attend. That said, I don’t know the details of their family’s finances.

But if ED doesn’t increase chance, why in many chance thread, when a student has lower score than average, people advise her to ED?

ED does in a sense increase your chance, if you are a qualified student that shows passion/interest. However, if you have below average stats, then ED will not increase your chance because the ED applicant pool is somewhat more competitive compared to the RD applicant pool (because many people just apply to Cornell just for the heck of applying) whereas those who apply ED all want to get into Cornell.

Why is there so much false information in this damn site?

The applicant pool for ED is not more competitive compared to the RD pool, quite the opposite.

The RD pool consists of the best and the worst. The best don’t apply ED because they are comfortable in their chances and want to see which other schools they get into.

The ED pool consists usually of the more mediocre candidates and/or athletes and legacies.

So the RD pool is more competitive?

I saw on many chance thread, when people have low score in their profile, they are recommended to ED? So is it easy to get into with low profile through ED ?

I only have 1420/2150 SAT ( with a low CR score 620), and dont know which pool is more competitive. Should I ED AEM because it is prestigious and many legacies/athletes want AEM rather than CAS or ILR. ( just my assumption). Apply now or wait till RD? How many ED applicants are received each year, do you know?
