I applied to cu boulder on november 15th around 5:00pm but on the application portal it says they received the materials on the 16th. Am I not considered for early application cycle?? I am really confused.
Does the portal say whether you are an EA or RD applicant somewhere? If not, contact your AO and ask.
On the one hand, the portal says: " Please compare the dates we received your materials to the early action and regular decision deadlines to determine the timeframe in which you can expect an admission decision."
On the other hand, the date(s) received are the date(s) the app was downloaded from Common App. An applicant can have submitted by the deadline (let’s say 11 pm mountain time Nov 15), it gets posted as Nov 16, 1 am EST, and received (presumably downloaded) on Nov 17 according to the portal, making it appear from the portal that the app was late when it was submitted prior to the EA deadline.
If you scroll down the right sidebar, you see “Early Action. A completed application (including test scores, transcripts, essays, letter of recommendation and application fee) must be submitted and received by November 15, 2020 to receive an admission decision by February 1, 2021.”
This “and received” part is some sort of bad joke for a whole bunch of applicants who applied any time on the 15th, because the app could not possibly have been downloaded until the 16th.
CU has not released any decisions yet, following a 20% increase in early apps. I would sit tight for a bit.
Yes this is exactly my situation. I submitted it on time but it was received and downloaded late. But since I followed the rules and submitted by the ea “deadline”, hopefully I should be fine.
I think it will be fine.
Same situation
Downloaded 1/16
If not considered an EA, it sure would have been good to know
Essays could have been improved and fall transcripts reported etc
