EA Question

Hello all,
I'm applying this year and ND is definately my first choice but I'm not sure if applying early makes sense. I don't think my stats are good enough and the admissions people made EA sound like an option for only the top of class. Here are my stats, hopefully someone can give me some advice since my GC is not the brightest.

92 GPA out of 100
650/720/680 SAT I
650 and 630 SAT II
4 APs and tough curriculm throughout HS
Captain of tennis team
Editor in chief of paper this year
Volunteering/Tutoring through NHS

Also, my school does not rank so I don't know where I fall but I'm almost positive I'm not in the top 6%.

Thanks for the help

My vote is to go regular since your SAT is right about on the average and your rank looks like it is going to be below. There are a lot of debates on here about EA, and granted I am conservative on who I recommend EA to, but I just think regular is the right choice since neither of those two is really above ND's average. It is up to you, that is just my opinion is all.

i agree with irish that you should wait until RD

I'm not sure I understand why you shouldn't apply EA. If you are a weak match, you might be deferred into the RD poll (April 1). If you are not a match, why not know in Dec. so you have time to think about and apply to other schools? If you are admitted, then you are all set.

The only reason to wait would be if you think by taking the SAT again later you will score significantly higher (but the scores from October will be taken for EA) or you will have a better application package later (letters, HS grades, essay, etc.).

This is a widely debated topic, and I personally fall on the side of caution. I saw that weak match students should NOT apply EA because ND tells you not to. The logic you have there is sound with what ND says, but they also say you should not apply EA unless you are one of the strongest applicants. Since admissions can be a life-changing event and since weak match students need every advantage they can get I just don't see why one should risk it.

That is just my opinion, but for full disclosure I was rejected EA and transferred to ND.
