Well, what do you think my chances are with EA and with regular?
Also, I have some quick questions about EA. In Chicago, am I more likely to get in with EA? I've read contradicting things. Also, what happens if you are deferred? Can you withdraw a deferred EA, and reapply standard? If you're rejected with EA, can you re-apply standard decision? And I'm retaking the SAT in Nov, hoping to up the math score; is there any way I can submit that, or do I have to stick with what I've got?

Scores and GPA are too low.

Uhh… anything else? I know my chances certainly aren’t great with them. But do you - or anyone else out there - have answers to any of my other questions? Most importantly, about the E.A. vs. Regular?

If your essays scream Chicago, you’ll be fine. Also, why would you “withdraw a deferred EA and then apply standard?” That seems equivalent to me to “letting them revisit your EA application during regular decisions.”

Thanks a lot arkleseizure! Also, I recently read about their “deferred” policy, which is basically what I was wondering about with that question.

The GPA might be, but I don’t think a 2190 is low for Chicago.

Average 2400-score for Chicago is 2200. But Chicago only looks at the 1600-score, and OP’s 1600-score is 1420, and Chicago’s average is 1470. And the admitted average is probably higher than that. So OP’s score is probably in the low range of admitted test scores.

The difference between 1470 and 1420 is about two questions - probably not a big deal.

Chicago rejects some folks during EA – if one is waiting on first semester grades and new scores, it might make sense to wait and apply RD. Especially if junior grades were low. The admissions folks will want to see how you ahve rebounded. Is the GC dealing with some of the family issues you faced? Do NOT spend your precious essays talking about that stuff. It is best addressed by the GC.
