Hi guys,

I don't understand the principle of EA/RD, can someone explain me?

Thank you

They have different application deadlines: Early Action candidates apply and get their admission decisions earlier than Regular Action/Regular Decision candidates. That’s all there is to it.

There’s a couple more flavors: Single Choice Early Action (if you apply to an SCEA school, you cannot apply anywhere else in the early round) and binding Early Decision (you make a commitment to enroll if you get accepted).

The logic behind the various plans is this: colleges admissions are a game where colleges compete for the most desirable students (academic and athletic super stars, wealthy customers, etc). If you can convince a students to research your university and write the “why X university?” essays before they apply anywhere else, the student might grow more emotionally attached to your university and will be more likely to enroll if accepted. (This might sound silly to many foreign students, but you wouldn’t believe how American students go about their college search. For many students, it’s an emotional decision rather than an academic/financial one.)

Ok, thank you.
Is there a chance in plus to get accepted in the EA? If i’m not accepted, can i apply in the RD?

If i’m not accepted, can i apply in the RD?

That depends on the college.

When you apply EA or ED,there are 3 possible outcomes:you may be accepted, rejected or deffered. If you are rejected it means that you will not be able to gain admission to that college in that year.If you are deferred,it means your application has been moved into the Regular Decision pool because they still want to see how you compare with all the applicants. You may ultimately be accepted or rejected depending.

Ok, thank you.
Is there an advatageous apllication?

bump guys !

ED and EA rounds usually have higher admission rates than RD. It’s not clear if there’s an actual advantage to applying early, or if a significant number of the early admits are “hooked” (e.g. recruited athletes, legacies) and would have been accepted RD anyway.

ok, thanks
international students can EA?

Isn’t financial aid limited for international students in EA/ED round in most universities ?
