EA send followed by bad decision

Here's a story about a friend. Really.

He applied before Nov 1 EA. The next day he received a ticket for doing one of the obvious and dumb things that some teenagers do on Halloween weekend. The policy in our town is that arrests are immediately reported to the school, so there will be a record of this in his school file.

Does the application he signed require him to submit an explanation of this? When?
I'm not asking what the right thing to do is here. I think I know what that is. But feel free to comment on this as well. I love ethics discussions.

I'm asking those of you who recently applied how you would interpret your obligation to Georgetown.

Thanks so much.

A ticket and an arrest are two different things, and the answer will depend on the offense. Parking ticket, no need to report. Arrest for vandalism, run to the the HS GC for help handling the situation.

I think the ethical thing to in this case is hard to define…
If this person already sent the application, then it is accurate, because at the time they sent the application, they hadn’t been arrested.
They could send information concerning the arrest if they’re deferred EA but I don’t think that’ll help this person’s chances of getting in
Either way, it’s a tough decision to make.
