Guys!
Did anyone hear from them via email???
I’m so excited, my tail is shaking out of control!!!

Lindacof- reading other posts, it seems as if WPI sent merit award letters with the acceptances, which is different than past years. I would Admissisions to confirm sooner rather than later, since they will be closed for the holiday break next week.

Congratulations to all who were accepted. My D is a sophomore at WPI and loves the school.

@gsmomma, do you think all the merit awards were sent with the acceptance letters? My daughter was expecting some sort of merit award. She is second in her class, has 2400 on her SAT’s at one sitting, and wants to major in chemistry; based on what I’ve read on WPI’s web site that resume provides several grounds for some sort of merit award. Other students from her high school have gotten merit awards with less stellar academic records, but if they are being sent with the acceptance letters, then she did not receive any at all.

Just spoke with WPI admissions office. Some letters were sent with acceptances but not all- they are still having meetings on merit decisions. They still recommend giving it 2 weeks time to see if you will receive merit money.

Please post stats and merit awards since it will be so helpful to future applicants and those that are waiting…Of course, we all know that stats are not everything, EC’s, recommendation letters and those unknown quantities such as diversity (racial, academic, geographic, talents, etc…) will always play a big part in who gets what and how much.

Thanks for posting. My son was accepted and I read the letter several times wondering what’s going on with merit awards!

Got my acceptance letter today (Southeastern CT)!
Umm stats? 690R/640M/790W and 32 ACT. Mostly A’s, top 5% of class.

My brother graduated from WPI a few years ago and loved it and has gotten a great job from internships that he did while at school there. I’m quite excited for this letter. It was the one I was really waiting on!

My D got letter on 12/19 with $14k Merit Award. She is majoring in Civil Engineering. Her stats are:
2190 SATs (770 Math, 760 Writing, 660 Reading)
Mostly All AP’s and Honors
4.75 GPA ranked 6th out of 412

Received another letter from Financial Aid on 12/24 with additional Aid. Received another scholarship of $15k on top of the $14k (not sure if it is need based or not, I didn’t think it was since our income is about $150k but maybe) also $30 of which free money!!)

Very nice, catd76; congratulations! For what it’s worth, if the award is from the admissions office and signed by the dean of admissions, then I think it is merit-based; if the letter is from the financial aid office, then it is need-based.
