hoosier5 - Thanks for the kind words. As far as scholarship money, would need to know your stats. Of course even then I can only guess. If you want to post them here or send them to me in a private message, I will give you my opinion either way.

Just saw on Gibson that I was accepted! So excited! Roll Green Wave!

Just received the big white envelope today!! D was offered the Presidential Scholarship, 27K per year, plus Honors. She is so excited, as are we! She has already said how nice it is to be recognized for all of the hard work of the last few years, and how happy she feels about the fact that she has an absolutely wonderful choice in the bag. Checking dates for the Honors weekend in March :-)

Congrats. ENs. Presidential Scholarship 27k /y. It will be worth more than 108,000 in 4 years. It’s so great that her efforts get paid off.

Congratulations ENsMom,

Tulane is really great about getting quick notification out re acceptance and scholarships. I hope it serves them well with acceptances.

My son applied to another school, much smaller than Tulane, which offered a “special” application with such benefits as no fee, a very fast admission decision and scholarship news. My son completed it well before his Tulane application and, well, we are still waiting.

As for those of you who are awaiting the Tulane decision, best of luck to you.

Adding my congrats ENsMom. Saw her stats on the Pitt thread (BTW, have a S in grad school/law school program at Pitt, 1st year) and I think she would have a decent shot at the DHS. Hope she is applying for that.

Congrats ENsMom!!! Is the 27k scholarship just based on test scores and gpa?

Christena629- mostly yes. Rigor of schedule would play a role as well, as would other factors. But it is largely based on academic stats.

Thanks, everyone for the congrats. Alot of hard work on her part over the last 3 years, that’s for sure! We were all pretty excited around here last night! And yes, FallenChemist, my D is planning on applying for the DHS – but she needs to get moving on that! A little bit of nagging has been going on around here.

My D has a friend who graduated from her high school last year that is at Tulane now and loves it, so that goes a long way toward making my D feel excited about going to Tulane. Another friend has an older brother there as well who has also had a good experience at Tulane. Pitt is also in the mix, as FallenChem mentioned, so we’ll have to see what they come up with as far as scholarship $$ go. Then some campus visits will be in order!!

We are thrilled with the 27K - it now brings the cost of Tulane down (actually ever so slightly less) to the cost for a UC for an in-state resident here in CA. And for our D who is hell bent on going to an urban school outside of CA, that was the requirement we set – we’re more than happy to send you to school out of state, but it has to be a very good school, and it can’t cost us more than it would cost us to send you to a UC. So so far, so good!!

My D got the Founder’s Scholarship $22/k. Disappointed she didn’t make honors, she’s really a committed student, but still very happy to have gotten something. And so quickly. Congrats to ENs daughter.

Suformilk, congrats on your d’s acceptance and scholarhip! There are still ways for her to earn her way into the honors program, it isn’t do or die at admissions time. Tell her to work hard, earn the best possible ways, and look at the honors program requirements on the tulane website so she understands what she needs to do to gain admittanc.

bajamm - You beat me to it! Also nothing is really closed off to her. She can enroll in honors courses if there is room (there usually is) and she can still request Butler as a dorm. Then she “only” needs to earn a 3.6 freshman year and she can get in, and she won’t feel like she has missed anything I wouldn’t think.

Congrats to you as well Sujormik! I have noticed that our D’s seem to have similar taste in colleges. :-)

Congrats to all who have been accepted! My daughter is absolutely thrilled and although she did not get a scholarship offer, she is currently pounding the pavement to find private scholarships and will also apply for the DHS though it is a long shot.

We will really try to make it work for her to attend Tulane though it will be a pretty tough adjustment financially. I went to Cornell for law school and I think if I had known about Tulane back then I might have chosen to go there instead. As a Florida girl I was completely unprepared for the Ithaca winters (or spring or fall, for that matter). So when my D decided to confine her search to Southern schools, I thought that was a great idea.

I know that my Cornell degree has really served me well over the years and I feel that a Tulane degree would do the same for my D. Good luck to all those still waiting to hear!

Congrats everyone!!
It’d be very helpful if everyone accepted could post their stats. I have a 3.4 GPA, 1940 SAT and 29 ACT. It’s a long shot but I’m waiting to hear!

My stats are 34 ACT, 4.0 GPA, and lots of ECs. and I was accepted :)

ECM: I don’t think it is a long shot at all. I think you have a credible shot. You are seeing the stats of those who are finding out they are accepted relatively early (typically those with high scores). My S had similar stats last year and had applied relatively early. He finally found out in late January and absolutely loves Tulane. He is also doing very well academically (at least based on mid-term grades). Best of luck!

I have a tour scheduled for Wednesday! I’m pretty excited.

Thanks so much Tyler15!
