The Tulane admissions staff said not to worry about/read too much into timing, and at this point, it is pretty random when they come out. If the rest of her application matches the stats you listed, I would be extremely surprised if she didn’t get in, and with a generous scholarship.

They only promise to have letters out by the 15th, which is still two weeks away. Don’ worry, just sit tight!

Thanks for all the help. Her application is for the school of Architecture so that is very competitive. She has a good amount of ECs and is doing an internship in Architecture- but you just never can tell.
I have not called. My daughter called a few weeks ago to verify her file was complete and it is. I decided to just send an email and ask for information.

Actually, her application is for Newcomb-Tulane College. All undergrads apply there, and the various schools (Architecture, Business, Science/Engineering, Liberal Arts, and Public Health) are under this umbrella. So in theory anyone that gets accepted to N-T College can be an architecture major. That said, architecture is unique in that it is a 5 year program with a masters as the only option, and certainly they encourage a portfolio and discussion with the faculty before deciding on that path, because it would be a waste of time for someone without the talent. Just a clarification for you, because it means that her app is in with all the rest, not separated out because she is thinking architecture.

As said above, the timing at this point is nearly random, and you will no doubt hear pretty soon. Well, you have to since there are only two weeks left. But as also said already, she is a solid candidate for both admission and, I would think, one of the top 2 merit scholarships, unless there is something we are not seeing, which seems doubtful.

Thank you fallenchemist for the insight. As was pointed out we do know an end date for this fun so we will just have to be patient and hope for the best.

S’s application was complete Oct 12th and website only showed admission last Sunday. Got the letter today, and he received the Founders (22K) scholarship. He’s a jazz musician, and fell in love with Tulane and NOLA when we visited, so it looks like his college search is done (thank goodness!).

BTW Mom0f3, a few on here know (but not many I don’t suppose) that I also was a musician and it was a huge part of my life at Tulane. Jazz, pop/rock (heavily instrumental stuff like Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Earth Wind and Fire, etc. Dating myself pretty well, eh?), and some classical. There is so much to embrace in this area at Tulane and in New Orleans. Some really unique experiences too, like playing in the orchestra at some of the Mardi Gras balls. I wish him as much fun and more.

Fallen chemist: you have been so helpful. Som got accepted early November. Very excited. I’m an alum and in reading your last post, am guessing we were there at the same time. Class of 1982…

It’s at the top of his list. He got into the Honors program and got the president’s scholarship. We are from California, so we’ve told him he needs to raise the difference between a UC education and where ever he goes. Tulane made that easy for him. He’s really happy.

Maplevale my daughter got in a couple weeks ago. Your daughter sounds like a very strong candidate. Have you called or emailed Andrew Farrier? He is the admissions counselor for architecture and the arts and he was very helpful to us in the process (she is a musician). If your daughter submitted an architecture portfolio, I would check up on that. Perhaps that is taking time to review. Anyway, Andrew is super nice and I wouldn’t hesitate to give him a call. Good luck!!!
