Here’s the thread for UGA applicants to discuss chances and post resulta when we get them. I’ll start:
Hey guys what would be my chances with:
3.72 UW GPA
1380 SAT
28 ACT (30 Superscore)
Rank: 87/602
12 APs by graduation (7 so far)
Multiple EC’s and 200+ hours of Community Service
AP Scholar with Distinction
Biggest thing I have going for me i think is that I am a founder of a fully established non profit dog rescue and created the website from scratch.
Please let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
My daughter’s applied EA. Her stats are:
4.00 UW, 4.8 Weighted, I think around a 4.5 UGA GPA.
1560 SAT
Rank 15/476
10 APs by graduation
Heavily involved in band and the chess team with leadership in both
AP scholar with distinction
NM commended scholar
I feel certain she will get in but as we are OOS(Alabama) we would really need her to get some scholarship money to make it affordable for us. She wants to major in Statistics and Auburn(my husband and I are alumni and she grew up wanting to go there) doesn’t have an undergrad Statistics program(neither does U of Alabama for that matter).
Your daughter has an amazing chance at admission even if she is OOS and a great chance at a scholarship as well. With those stats she will probably recieve some type of scholarship, atleast a partial one.
Thanks admission. We would need at least a waiver for instate tuition, that would make it much easier on us. I think you have a good chance of admission as well. I had no idea until we started looking at UGA how competitive it was now!
My D applied EA
3.87 uw gpa

School doesn’t rank
Lots of ECs

My son just submitted his application for EA

Anyone else invited to the First Look program? We have visited the campus before, but are attending the last FL session in November.
@jkrazney2 The deadline for EA was 10/15? Do you mean he submitted it earlier?
Yes, he submitted in early October.
I think your son has a great chance of getting in!
Hi guys, I’m a senior at a catholic prep school on Long Island, NY. The school I go to is known for its intense acedemic rigor and has a strong reputation in the North East. My school is still very behind the times though, so even though every class is taught out of an AP textbook and it’s the AP curriculum, it does not give us AP credits. So technically, I have not taken any AP classes, but all of the classes are considered honors classes because the school does not offer APs. I am worried UGA won’t take the rigor of my school into account when looking at my gpa, what are my chances of getting in EA?
My Stats:
ACT: Math 29, English 31, Reading 35, Science 28 = 31
UGA GPA: 3.5
Rigor: extremely difficult
Extracurricular: NHS, President of ETV, 2 life guarding jobs year round, teach a CCD class once a week, Senior Leader, Varsity Riflery, member of 3 other clubs
My school doesn’t rank
OOS
4.42 HS GPA / 3.8 UGA GPA
35 Composite ACT
36 English Reading and Science, 33 Math
8 AP’s, all Honors for the rest of my classes
Civic Service President, Mock Trial Captain, NHS, other EC’s
In state
95.5 unweighted/99.75 ish weighted
35 ACT (but I’ve heard they only look at English/Math, in which case I’m averaged out to a 33 lol)
14 APs
AP scholar with distinction
do y’all know about decision dates? I’ve heard nov 15th in years past, but does anyone have info about this year?
Correct - it is my understanding that UGA only looks at your English and Math sections of the ACT. Therefore, Science and Reading sections do not factor into the calculation for ACT. Also, UGA does not use your high school’s GPA. Instead, they calculate a “UGA GPA”. Here are instructions on how to calculate your UGA GPA that admissions uses.
Sorry - here is the link to calculate your UGA GPA http://ugaadmissions.blogspot.com/2013/11/calculating-uga-gpa.html
Late November I think
Usually before Thanksgiving
UGA’s blog for admissions is arguably the best thing ever in this process. Check it out! http://ugaadmissions.blogspot.com/
I applied Early Action to UGA on 10/15 and for the Foundation Fellowship on 11/1. I am really hoping for at least the Classic City scholars as I am an OOS student and will need an out-of-state tuition waiver to be able to attend UGA (#1 school on my list). I have seen in past years people with similar stats as mine getting a scholarship so I hope I have a good chance too.
Stats for those that may want some background:
Residency: OOS (North Carolina)
ACT: 32
GPA (unweighted): 3.92
Rank: 25/435
Rigor: 14 IB/AP by graduation
Activities: A few leadership positions, sports, many clubs, and over 162 hours of community service
White (Middle Eastern Descent), Male
Good luck to everyone else who is waiting for decisions!
@wakeprospect I like your chances for admission. What were your ACT English and Math ACT scores? Science and Reading ACT sections don’t count for University of Georgia ACT. The average ACT for English and Math was 30 for the incoming class.
Also, what was your University of Georgia calculated GPA? Good luck!
When do EA decisions come out?
