EA vs. ED

HI, im planning to apply to cornell for early decision, which is binding, but as North carolina's is not, Is it possible to apply early to both Cornell and NC- Chapel hill

From Cornell's website:

Remember that an early-decision application is a commitment. You can apply under early decision to only one college or university

Sounds like they do not condone applying ED to any other school.

Actually, Carolina is "early notification", and I think that is done on purpose to avoid the "early action" clause/rules that some Ivy Leagues have in their admissions process.

In that case, I don't see why he/she couldn't apply to both.

I agree. I think that is smart on Carolina's part.

yeah you can apply ED to cornell and EA to UNC

my parents made me apply ED to columbia even though my 1st choice is UNC. because theyre obsessed w/ivys..sad.

My D was able to apply to Stanford ED and UNC EA. It turned out to work very well. Though she didn't get into Stanford, we would recommend applying to UNC EA a thousand times over. It gives you (in our opinion) an advantage with the Honor's program, and the process is actually sort of fun - they make sure to keep in touch with you and be as expedient as they can with the process.
