EA: Yale or Stanford?

I realize either school is a huge reach for me, but I think I've decided to apply early action to one of them. My question is, which one is gives you a bigger advantage applying early action? Is there really any difference?

I dunno which one gives you a better chance but I've heard Yale ED is like 18% and RD is 9%...

I'd go with Yale just cause it's cooler.

I'd go with Yale cause its less hilly.
B-sides if you want to get rejected, its best to atleast have some integrity.

lmao wow that was harsh...sure to get some comments

I went to stanford and it was all like up and down and up and down, i felt like I was gonna barf! My legs had to work too hard.

(yay 600 posts)

hahahahaha rookie

yale RD admissions rate for last year was 5.8%. EA was 17%. (i got this from an article in the yale daily news)

Yeah, We started at the same time and your like a senior member away from me.

BTW I went to a PU Yale basketball game b4 I knew what colleges were, and it was at P-ton and they had these 5 shirtless guys who had Yale on the front with the y taking up 2 people and sucks on thier backs. Forever the term "Yale sucks" was imbeded in my mind, and for that reason I won't apply.

lol miken that's cuz you have more of a life than me...but i make most of my posts at work :D

I can't believe you wouldn't apply to Yale b/c of something those kids from Princeton had on their flabby bodies. I'm thinking of going to Yale for law...which reminds me, I need to go create a thread to learn something.

Everyone look out! I figured out how to do all the smilies.

:confused: :mad::p :o :rolleyes: :cool:

It's too hot in Stanford, so I'd choose Yale.

mike: LOL, thats gotta be the stupidest reason I've ever heard

You know what's even weirder...all of these ppl are saying "Yale Yale Yale" over Stanford and yet in the #1 Dream School thread Yale has like 2 votes and Stanford is kicking asss in 1st place.

I've never been able to get over the Mexican architecture myself.

Stanford is prettier.

Actually Yale is tailored even more toward EA. Fully half the class comes from EA pool. Not only are 18% taken in the EA round, of those deferred to RD, 13-15% are taken. In other words, your chances as a deferred are almost the same as if you were taken EA.

Like bandit_TX says, Yale tends to accept more applicants overall from the EA pool. Stanford has a 17% EA acceptance rate, but its rejection rate is around 60%. They don't like to defer. Their RD acceptance rate is around 7%, but the EA deferred acceptance rate is only a little bit higher than that (I think around 10%?). Stanford remains adamant to making the majority of their offers during RD, so Yale would probably be a bit more advantageous EA. They only reject around 33% EA, and if you're deferred you still have more than double the chance of being accepted than an RD applicant.

Yale is your best chance.

How do you guys know the stats for EA candidates that are deferred? I've never seen anything like that posted before.

I wouldn't try to game the system as much as apply to the one that you like better. Being able to come across as a more natural fit is much more likely going to get you into either school than knowing that Yale is 5% RD and Stanford is 7% RD and making your decision based on that. At that level, it's an insignificant difference anyway.

i don't think this post will help u cuz half of the ppl say yale and half say stanford.

i would EA to yale...just cuz its an ivy...and if ur essay is really good, ivies tend to accept u more.

Yale is a better chance for you, don't apply to the other place anyways.

Stanford definitely, you'll love the weather. :)
