Awfully quiet here - when do y’all hear about EA decisions?

1/6 admissions decisions
1/13 scholarship notification
1/14 put kidney on ebay

Even though Splash knows the letters will not arrive for several more days, she can't seem to stop herself from running to the mailbox on a daily basis. Did y'all turn in the early estimate aid form? In addition to his regular job, DH does some consulting for which he has an accountant who manages his invoices, etc. He said we'll just do the FAFSA and any other $$ forms after we get our W2s. I hope that wasn't a major mistake.

Yep. We did. Such as it was. Our income (and outgo) is such a variable number. I think they'll just reject her rather than having to deal with it.

You're a nut, curmudgeon. Is anyone else feeling the excitement waning due to financial concerns regarding college? I don't want to bring Splash down, and I'm trying not to let it show, but I do worry a bit about that. :(

I am now realizing we made a major mistake! How could I have missed the December 1 deadline for the early estimate aid form? I feel so very stupid. I didn't realize it was a requirement for those students applying EA to have it in by December 1st. I am crushed. This has brought me to tears today. How can we have missed this? I'm sick.

Splashmom,
I sent you a PM too, but I thought I'd post it here too. I'm sorry I didn't see your message earlier or I would have responded then. I called about the early estimate form and the admissions counselor said it wasn't necessary for the Early Action decision or for Merit aid decisions. It only matters for need-based aid so you can get a early estimate of total aid available. She said if you didn't do it, then you just do the FAFSA and a different Centre form that asks that asks for the same kind of information.

I hope this hasn't ruined your new year because I don't think you've caused your daughter any problem at all!

Happy New Year! We should be hearing soon!

Thanks so much, doddsdad. I got your pm and it made me feel much better!

Awwwwwww. C'mon already. It's close enough to January 6th . Give it up, Ned ol' boy. We gots to know.

I'm sure it will be here any time. Patience, my dear man, patience. BRB - gotta run to the mailbox! ;)

Hey, it's already January 6, 0800 over here! We haven't heard yet! I'm hoping he has a good news email when he returns home from school today.

Good luck everyone!

Good luck, potential Centre students and parents!

Wow Firefly! You get up early in the morning...or go to bed very late!

Dag-nab-it, Luke!! I saw someone had posted and thought they'd sent something to somebody. Of all the confarned dingdang goshdarn .......

Splash is still in bed. It's our last day of Christmas break before returning to school on Monday, so I'm letting her sleep as late as she wants. I'll keep an eye on the board to see if anyone hears anything, at which point I will jump on the end of her bed and demand she get up immediately. :)

I know I haven't been around for a while but as I was wandering the web this afternoon I came across my old friends on CC...

I can't wait to hear about the EA letters! It feels like yesterday that we were going through this and now Centregirl is a 2nd semester Sophomore and applying for a semester abroad!

Don't sweat the money folks. Centre really does make a good effort to make it affordable. No, it's not inexpensive (even for us very middle income folks) but definitely do-able. And, based on my daughter's experience, has been worth every penny.

BTW, Centregirl finally got that elusive A last semester in her psych course. Yes, indeedy, things are looking up :)

Centremom, we will need some hand-holding to get through this . LOL. Glad you checked in on us.

Centremom, we appreciate your support. Where is Centregirl planning to study abroad?

Centregirl is applying for Reading University in England for Fall 06 with Centre-in-London as a fall-back in Spring. The Reading program is very competitive and they encourage the students to apply for more than one.

She is also applying to travel to Poland this May with a "remembrance" group. This organization selects college students, worldwide, to spend a week visiting concentration camps, interviewing holocaust survivors and their families and touring the region. The intent is that these students will bring back the stories and experiences to share with their fellow students. She was made aware of this opportunity through her minor in Religious Studies. If accepted, Centre has offered to pick up some of the cost, as well as secure a private donor for a larger portion.

Centremom,
I hope she gets the program she wants, but I don't think she can go wrong with the study abroad programs. DS and I visited the Centre-in-Strasbourg program in November and it was a great visit and great program. FWIW, on the day we visited, we were able to join the students and professors in a field trip to the only Nazi concentration camp on French soil, Natzweiler-Struthof. Since we had visited Dachau the day before, it was a chilling deja vu experience.

I wish her luck!
