My daughter just got admitted to JMU. She applied for Marketing. Under program, in her online portal, it says “accepted program undergraduate. “. It says nothing about marketing. The letter also did not say anything about marketing nor did it say she was denied to the marketing program. What does this all mean?
JMU doesn’t have restrictions on specific majors - your daughter is free to choose whatever major she wants and change it as she pleases. Therefore, students aren’t accepted into specific major.
For many majors, the students apply for specific programs after they have taken the entry level classes at JMU
But her friend’s letter says she was admitted to the criminal justice program
Look up “major in Marketing” on the JMU website. It explains how students get in the program.
@01hockeymom See attached link to Marketing page on JMU’s site to understand the process to formally “apply” to the College of Business / Marketing major once certain steps are complete.

New Freshmen and Transfer Students
Students declare the marketing major when they register for orientation. Any student admitted to JMU can declare any major offered by the College of Business; however, students are not formally admitted into the College of Business until certain requirements are met. See “Admissions to Major” section.
My daughter got in too. ?Does anyone know when Honors acceptances come out ?
Last year my daughter received notice about the honors college a few days after the early decisions came out.
