Ea

Who applied ea to SMU?

when do we hear back?

A friend of mine has a D that applied EA. They talked to adcom and said the decisions go in the mail today, Friday, 14th. Good luck

Thanks for the update dsm, it would be a great early Christmas present to get a nice envelope in the next few days :)
I heard the deadline for EA was December 31, and ED December 15. Maybe they're sending the decisions for EA the same time as ED???

CollegeKid, nice to hear back from a fellow SMU EA'er. Maybe we can resurrect this thread :)

Decisions in mail for EA would be good news. SMU websie does not show any ED option that I can find.

I already know that i was accepted because i e-mailed the admissions lady for my area on Tuesday and she told me that i got in!!!! She said i would be recieving a letter this weekend...which i didn't so i'm guessing we'll all be getting letters beginning of this week...

good luck to everyone!! i think its a good year cuz 5 kids from my school have gotten in already (they all e-mailed her)

alyssa what were your scores if you dont mind me asking

umm
SAT: CR- 720, M- 640, W- 690 (1360/2050)
i didn't take any SAT II's or the ACT
my GPA's only a 3.2 but that was cuz of health problems i had which i explained in a supplement essay

anything else?

Congrats alyssa, may I ask what you asked your AdCoun in your email? Not sure I want to bluntly ask if I got in or not XD

Hope to maybe meet everyone next year :)

haha yeah um I was just very nice about it here's my exact e-mail (i omitted my last name):

Hello! My name is Alyssa and I'm a senior at Berkeley Preparatory School in Tampa, Florida. I applied early action and I was just wondering if I could find out my admission status, I was told I could e-mail you to find out. Thank you so much!

Alyssa

i was pretty much just very nice and perky about it lol the lady responded very nicely

Thanks, I think that's a good way to put it :)
Ahhh, whatever, I'll go the traditional way and wait for the mail XD

If when the envelopes land. What is an acceptance envelope like - big, regular stuffed with lots of material, etc? What about a rejection letter? A deferral letter?
What are your GPA and SAT or ACT like if you don't mind sharing?
Thanks and good luck to all.

D. got letter today - a deferral sadly. Anyone have any idea of stats of what SMU sent out - how many acceptances, deferrals, rejections? Any idea from past of % of deferrals ultimatley accepted? Best of luck to the rest of you.

i got a deferral too
this is a shock, i was expecting to get in....

I'm yet to hear anything, but what were both your scores. I'm getting really nervous SMU was my favorite school on my list.

i got mine today, and it was a defferal as well.
i put in a lot of communication so i thought i was going to get in..
im just glad i didnt get rejected

What are your stats, guys? For my deferred D, 3.3 at an excellent privte school with a 1340 SAT.

i got my official acceptance packet thing today it was really cool it's this huge blue thing thats filled with like an official certificate and such

just thought i would throw this in: i also got rejected today from my ED school so i guess i'll (most likely) see everyone who got accepted to SMU there next year

Does anyone know whether scholarship information is provided with acceptance packet or does that information come later?

I'm in; Very excited, though I may not end up at SMU next year depending on what happens in March.

DONHO, my acceptance was a blue packet filled with a viewbook, a few pieces of reading material, housing selection, but nothing on scholarships (although I didn't leaf through ALL of the pages). I didn't request that I needed financial aid, so that may be why I may not have gotten anything.

Best wishes for everyone else still waiting, etc. Hope you all have nice mail in the coming days :)

Well we received two packets on separate days -- neither contained any info on scholarships. Guess we'll have to contact the Admission's office to find out.
