Considering the stats that I see on wiki, there's going to be just as many acceptees this year.

I kind of doubt that - last year's were chock full of 800s and valedictorians - that's intimidating.

Hey! Last year's first 5 on wiki had an Acceptance streak. Hope that continues!!!!!

I heard a rumor that the Yale board last year actually had a post predicting which CC's will get what :D.

^ hehe, I hope so too.

It's funny how all 6 people have chosen 11a as their essay topic.

I predict that of 6 so far, 4 will be accepted, and 1 defered, and 1 rejected (moi).

Because the quote one can turn cliched really quickly (the infamous history repeat itself one), so unless it's reeeally original.

It's harder to think of a cliched picture for 11a. In fact, I can't think of any, unless someone's really unimaginative enough to put a tennis racket or instrument or something.

Don't get so abject! Unless your essays really sink you (but CC creative writing should give you lots of practice), your vital stats are good.

I used an instrument, but in an original way. :( :)

Violin?? Hehe. Or piano? as long as it's not along: "my experiences playing piano has taught me High Platitude A, Noble Virtue B, and Great Lesson C" it'll be alright. As my essay book goes, with that kind of essay you can change "playing piano" into "work as a terrorist" and the dull sentiment will still hold.

Violin and piano, although I'm much better at violin (been playing it for 12 years, and only 2 for piano). I admit, my essay was pretty dull. My music essay for Princeton is like 50 times better, though.

Violin (and my teacher who was an Asian slave driver) is so hard - I stopped it in junior year because I didn't have time to practice for the auditions :( and had no chance of being section leader, unlike in band where I've been plotting for years.

Btw are you over the 500 word limit for the common essay?

No I'm actually at 496, but I'm planning to add a couple more sentences to the conclusion. All the people who've read my essay said that the words were a little too flowery.

I'd much rather have been good at the piano than the violin, though.

My writing is overwhelmingly but naturally flowery too. My friends made fun that I used the word progeny in the essay. Can't help it - big words just crash relentlessly into the mind, demanding to leave their legacy on the paper.

purrli where r u from in MA?

grrr... I refuse to join in on that wiki site... I pall in comparision to you brainiacs

lol I'll just post my lowest scores
SATI
m 710

SAT II
chem 690 (790 on retake, but that was Nov so they prolly won't look at it)
Japanese 650 (hey, I'm not a native speaker. but this was also from Nov so again..they prolly won't look unless I'm deferred (hoping for deferral))

raise your hand if you think I was stupid for taking Japanese. raises hand

wait - question. stan only asks for two SAT IIs right? so do you think they'll give you the benefit of the doubt and only count your two highest for your avg?

Ares - I'm from Westford. :D. You?

Ashland, near framingham

well, they "strongly suggest" two or something...so yeah hopefully if I get deferred, they will say "oo nice chem ignore Japanese" tee...

Um..bluephish I completely didn't understand the second half of what you said.

really? So I would need is SATs I and then 2 SATs II of my choice (i.e. Math & Bio?)
that would be awesome...
are there any other colleges that only require 2?
