We can only hope that something like personality and intellectual capacity are more important criteria than SAT score.

I agree with you there bluephish. Classical music is totally awesome!

I prefer Romantic and more recent music to Classical and Baroque though. We're playing Beethoven's nth symphony now and it's as boring as sitcoms.

Purrli, are you both in band and orchestra? I read somewhere that you played clarinet too.

yeah I'm clarinet in both band and orchestra and marching band and parade band. [I used to be violin in orchestra and clarinet in band, but then I started clarinetting in both because I got promoted ;)]

Yeah I kinda like the Romantic era more.........I'd rather listen to Tchaikovsky than Bach.

I hope you have nice conductors. The one for the Pittsburgh Youth Orchestra is totally harsh, and I have to put up with him once a week.

our conductor is mean to the nth degree - he made several guys cry. but it keeps the band in shape though, and everybody practices until they're blue in the face.

The marching band at my school is really good too, but then again, I havent heard one that sucked. Seems all marching bands across America are good.

all marching bands sound good because there are 374723042 kids and they just play loud and they march so the rhythm is pretty good lol. :P
yeah the problem with the classical era is I suck at Mozart and that's one of the best oboe concertos so gaahh. >>
I heard our conductor used to be really mean and even stop the concert to yell, but now he's totally chill...oo

^lol Bluefish. The conductor in my school orchestra used to be totally harsh, but now he's so stressed that he doesn't bother to yell anymore.

I feel so guilty playing Mozart. I feel like I am not worthy.
