I have been in boy scouts since 9th grade, and I mentioned this in the activities section of the common app. I am currently a life scout, and am currently putting the final touches on the plan for my eagle project (a verrrrry long and grueling process with many signatures of approval needed), and im hoping to recieve my Eagle scout within 3 or 4 months.

How should I express the inevitability of me getting eagle scout? I dont want to lie and just put "eagle scout" down, but I also dont really have room to explain all this....any ideas?

My friends who were Girl Scouts put "Gold Award in Progress" on their apps while they were working on them. I think that indicates that it's something you're working on that will eventually be completed.

I'd say your best option is having the project completed and the final writeup approved before submitting the application. Then, it would be pretty honest to list Eagle Scout in the Activity Detail Section (assuming you've already finished your merit badges and leadership requirements as well). Beside that, put something in the "Additional Info" section to the effect of "Eagle Scout Rank pending final Board of Review" so they know it's not 100% done yet.

Just be sure the actual project has happened before you send the app off, b/c you want to be sure the project is a success. Otherwise, it's kind of sketchy to assume that things will go as planned.

If you can't finish all the requirements on time, but finish them in the middle of the decision progress, you could definitely send an update to the admissions offices noting your progress since submitting the app.

Given that completing an approved Eagle project is hardly a foregone conclusion, IMO you should not claim "pending" until you have completed the project. Once that is in the bag, "pending Board of Review" would be fair to stipulate until you actually are awarded the rank by the national office.

Make sure you complete your project before your 18th birthday.
