Ear Piercing

I have a daughter interested in USNA. She is a rising high school junior. I have read the Academy policy on ear piercing for females. They may have 1 piercing in each earlobe. My daughter wears 2 earrings in one ear and 3 in the other. If she permanently removed all the earrings that were not allowed before the interview process and reporting, would the fact that her ears had been previously pierced be a problem?

I think she'd be okay as long she didn't wear more than one earring per ear.

From the USNA catalog:

...Nothing in USNA policy prohibits a single non-elongated perforation of each earlobe on female applicants, candidates, NAPS students or midshipmen. The use of gold, platinum, or other veneers or caps for the purposes of dental ornamentation are prohibited.

Candidates accepting an offer of appointment will be asked to state whether any of the above conditions are present. All candidates so identified will undergo independent review by the Body Alteration Review Board. Candidates with any skin marking which does not conform to our policy may be denied admission unless the condition can be corrected before induction or the candidate agrees to pursue correction after reporting....

Body piercings, alterations, and tattoos are noted during the DODMERB medical examination. Anything that deviates from USNA policy will probably require a remedial.

I have multiple ear piercing and a pierced tongue. I took the tongue stud out before going to summer seminar last summer - hasn't been back in since, and just wore a nice pair of small gold earrings for all of my interviews and medical. I received an appointment, although did not accept it, and nothing was ever said about the multiple wholes in my ears! I do not think it was even noted on the physical as I required no remedial and was medically qualified. I asked my cousin -USNA'10 he knows plenty of female Mids with multiple ear piercing, they just do not wear anymore than one set of earrings when in uniform.

thanks for the advice! i'll let her know that her earrings won't be a problem if she doesn't wear them. :-)

many mids have multiple ear piercings.... but they are permitted to wear only one set of gold (regulation sized) studs.

I recall one girl actually reporting for I-Day in 2010 with a barbell tongue-stud in place..... silly girl!
