Ear plugs during test?

Last time I took the SAT, I was sitting in a classroom 15 feet away from construction of new school tennis courts. There was constant beeping, hammering, and digging--causing the entire ground to tremble.

Is it against the rules to use earplugs during a test?

one word: yes

that sucks
i sat in the front for the sat today and the teacher were talking to each other like a feet away from me
and she wrote the time on the board every 2 minutes which was really annoying

Really? From the start of the test at 8:00, my ear plugs were stuck deep in my ear and the world was a mumble.

hahah swatman i'm owondering if we were in the same room...my proctor did that too

atleast she told you your time, our proctor didnt even tell us time on essay, and like nobody but me and like 2 other kids finished.. i dont think earplugs are allowed, since I have shure headphones that have earplug earbuds like bright orange and everything, and well I could cheat very easily that way, playing off my headphones as a hearing aid

I brought my earplugs but decided not to use them since they tend to get quite uncomfortable after expanding( I use the 32dB ones). I can empathize with you, though. Last time, I sat by the window next to a construction site where spanish workers shouted in their language and unleashed the screwdriver-- a nightmare.
