Earlham College

Anyone's thoughts/ impressions about Earlham would be much appreciated :)

There's lots of good info on this thread: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=48507&highlight=Earlham

Lady, Earlham soared to the top on my daughter's list after a visit in March. (You can read the trip report here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=48507&page=1&highlight=earlham) She'll be doing their two week summer program in June and hopes to return for an overnight in the fall before deciding whether or not to apply ED. From what I can see, it is a strong fit for my daughter, but probably not a school for everyone as its approach and campus culture is a bit unique due to the pervading Quaker influence. I think Earlham is a great school for people who march to the beat of their own drummer, care about social issues, and are looking for challenging academics. (And, the academics are more demanding and challenging than Earlham's admissions stats would suggest at first glance.) Probably not a school for conservatives, people seeking a wild party scene, or those into shopping for the latest fashions to show off to their friends. :)

Sounds like my kind of school :) Thanks, Northstarmom and carolyn.

Lady, if Earlham appeals, also check out Beloit and Goucher, both also on my daughter's short list. They're each a little different in their own way, but have the same sort of vibe.

My girlfriend will be a freshman at Earlham in the fall. She's extremely excited about it, and I am the same for her, too. It seems to have a remarkable atmosphere and a very fine academic culture.
