<p>Hm...I don't know. I think Earlham has always been pretty obscure and small, never an "elite" or "hot" liberal arts college, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything important. Of all the schools that call themselves Quaker, it's probably the only one that actually really is--a notable number of students are Quaker and they implement Quaker traditions like calling profs by first names. So that in itself makes Earlham pretty unusual. My sister went there in the early 90s and is now a professor at a prestigous university, so obviously it worked out ok for her.</p>
