Earlier than December 15th!?!

They couldn’t release them after the 15th, could they? We had a deadline to submit our applications, they have a deadline to notify us of their decision.

I think it’s going to be today. If the past 6 years they have heard before the 15th I’m sure we will hear back before the 15th this year too.

That’s what I’m hoping. I’m beginning to think that my decision letter is more probable to arrive before my e-mail.

And it’s not like the applicants spiked this year. They only increased 8 percent, which probably puts the final number at about 1,750 applicants; plus, it’s usually less than that since some kids move their app to RD or withdraw.

It would make them look really bad if they don’t release it on the deadline they set for themselves. They should at least notify us that it will be late.

On Friday they were saying “Monday or Tuesday,” but now they’re saying “Sometime this week.” That makes me feel like it’s not going to be Monday or Tuesday. I really don’t know what the hold up is. This isn’t cool.

I don’t think I can take another day of nerves like this.

I just called and she replied “you should hear by email or letter by this Sunday”…seriously this is absolutely ridiculous and unfair! I am fed up with them.

Its going to be monday or tuesday just watch

I’m pretty sure I bombed 2 tests today because I was so preoccupied thinking about NU decisions…I can’t take another day of this…

I think the responses to the phone inquiries about when the decisions will be released have been relatively accurate. I don’t think there is a conspiracy to drive us crazy, although it certainly feels like that. I would be astonished if this process went beyond the 15th. Yes, it says the 15th is the deadline on the website and many other locations. So reading the tea leaves of phone inquiries, we will probably find out sometime tomorrow, most likely in the evening, if we haven’t suffered a nervous breakdown by then.

If you haven’t already, check out the new thread… the Three Hour Countdown one. :)

Hey guys, if you haven’t heard the news, cclolzftw wrote in a thread:

“Somehow, my dad called admissions and they told him that decisions will be e-mailed in batches starting at 5 p.m. today. He also said that all batches will be sent by 8 a.m. tomorrow.”

Which means it’s time for this little gem. Good luck to everyone. Fingers crossed!

Actually, ajsilas, there already is one.

Hi all,
I am a parent with a child applying ED to Northwestern. I have hesitated to post and add to the frenzy but perhaps a reason for the “delay” in your minds is the following. Weeks ago I had reason to call Northwestern and ask a question. I learned that they have instituted some sort of new system this year that scans in all the documents/info which they have received and that it was clearly taking them longer than anticipated to get this system up and running efficiently.

By the way, Chanukah is a minor festival and NO ONE would take off for it. (Post #479)

“Chanukah is a minor festival and NO ONE would take off for it.”

Obviously, you are not from New York or Chicago.

AHHH I’m assuming those times they gave are central time but I hope we all find out tonight!

If that information is correct, do you think they’ll be sending out emails during the dead of night? Or should I just go to bed if my email doesn’t arrive by a decent time?

All I know is that this is stressing me out more than it should. I’m not using it as an excuse other than my anxiety is up which means my attention span/ability to focus are significantly drained. I didn’t do most of my homework and studying last night so I took the day off school hoping to be able to recoop the lost time. The more they delay, the less likely I’ll be able to get anything done. ughhhhh. life.

@BLJ422: From what I understand, they will start sending them at 5:00 PM CDT and continue through the night, ultimately ending at 8:00 AM CDT. So, yes I think they will be sending throughout the dead of night.
