I keep hearing everything from August to late October. While I'm far from being an ill-qualified candidate I could certainly use any help that I can get and applying early to PSU seems to, as well as starting in the summer which I plan to if I end up going to PSU.

The PSU application is fairly cursory as there are no letters of recommendation and no or minimal essay. It's just about grades/curriculum (2/3) and SATs (1/3). So there's no excuse for applying late.

When my son and I went to "A Day in the SUmmer" (open house - which I recommend highly) last summer, the head of admissions took pains to explain the fact that "applications received in AUgust will get the same consideration as those received in October". However, if you apply after October you risk going into the second batch for consideration.

Bottom line - get the application submitted in August or September, get your school to send your transcript as soon as you get back to school in the fall, and then forget about it until November, because you won't hear till about then.

If you read the PSU posts carefully, you'll read some from highly quallitifed students who did not get their apps in until well after November 1, and got declined or waitlisted.

The PSU app is about the simplest one you'll do, so bang it out in August, get the transcript in, and work on the tougher apps to other schools.

Is PSU rolling admissions?

yes it is rolling
