Why did Grinnell send me a course catalogue? really confused

I think they mail them to all applicants.

^ I figured; it came so randomly and I haven't received course catalogues from anyone else.

we never received a course catalog and my S is an applicant so....
but we received one from another college - where he did not get an acceptance but others we know did not receive the catalog - who knows.

Congrats to those of you who got in. S was admitted ED so we don't know about early acceptances but...

S's friend at Northwestern came by yesterday. He's having a great time socially, but mentioned that as a freshman, he has lots of distribution requirements and his classes to fufill those are often 300 kids. He also mentioned that freshman are last to enroll (they have a trimester system), so the freshmen get the leftovers after all the upperclassmen have registered. So different at Grinnell where they enroll in rounds, so that they first try to place everyone in their first choice class, then go back and try to put everyone into their second choice class-so even first years have a good chance of getting the one or two classes they really care about. S has gotten into every class he's wanted so far and no class has been bigger than 30 kids. And no, he is never, ever bored. He's involved in so many clubs and sports and other ECs that we call it 'Camp Grinnell.'

You all are in for a great time.

General Comments/Congratulations/etc: Am really happy w/the Trustee Scholarship but I was definitely hoping for more fin. aid... (although it's not final yet). Grinnell's kind of a backup school, but I am definitely still interested in taking them up on the visit offer because it seems like such a great opportunity. If only it wasn't the month before IB exams!

CONGRATS TO EVERYONE ELSE!

How are you guys finding out????

I got an early acceptance as well through RD (though it's so late now everyone has their decisions...). I'm just posting because I saw this thread.

I was wondering how much the average merit scholarship award is among the rest of you who got them.

Mine's $10,000 a year, plus I would get an additional $2000 per year for National Merit.

7.5k. I wouldn't compare your award to other peoples. instead, see how it effects your financial situation comparably to other schools - thats why im doing :O

I got an early write, but no merit aid at all. O_o

I think it's because of my low test scores?
