Early Acceptance Letters

Do the ivies or any of the very competitive LACs send acceptance letters early out to applicants they really want?

ivies don't send official acceptances, only likelies

Great - thank you. That was *** sooooooo *** helpful. So, DO THEY SEND ** "LIKLIES" ** early?!!

Yes. Yes they do. Lay off the sarcasm.

Yale, for instance, does.

Are you expecting one or something?

Some of the top LACs (AWS) send "early writes" which are admissions sent several weeks early.

^^^ Hey man, his response was useless. But you're right, my bad.

^^ Uhh... no. I was just curious.

no, his response wasn't worthless, it pretty much answered your question. Were you confused?

Yup. Sorry. I feel kind of embarrassed. Wow. Great.

....Sorry about that.

yeah, I didn't think it was that difficult to understand...ivies don't send out early acceptance..but they do send liklies. hm. I'm pretty sure that's what he said.

No - I thought he was being a smart ass saying that 'acceptance letters' aren't really acceptance letters b/c your app can be rescinded.

I was just trying to give you a straight-forward answer.

Some of the likely threads on the ivy sites are misleading. The reality is that at schools like Harvard and Yale, likely letters to non athletes are sent out to just a very tiny percentage of all accepted applicants. These schools might send out just 60 letters to non athletes in the entire country. Reading the ivy threads on cc gives the impression that a lot of applicants are getting one. This is not the case. Even at very competitive schools like Duke, while more may be sent out, they are still sent to just a small percentage of the admitted students.

Yeah... I c/n imagine they were gong to too many people.
