Early Acceptance

Only in my dreams, pal. Hahaha. I kind of deduced it reading an article Stanford did on their admissions process and the different terms they use for different students i.e. Clear Admits, Swim, etc. Clear Admits, according to the article, are students who are just PHENOMENAL in every way that they are basically sent to the Dean to get approved. You really should be proud that not only did you get into one of the toughest schools in the nation, you also found out EARLY! Wow. You must truly be the creme de la creme at Stanford. Good luck with all your difficult choices!

Well hooks such as minority with great stats means acceptance at almost any university, so its no wonder Stanford wants to accept them early

As for the rest of us, we're still hoping for the best in April

Excuse the dumb question, but... I know what EA is, but what is RD?

thanks.

RD = regular decision

Thank you. My son applied RD and is waiting to hear. He has been accepted at USC, and he is thrilled. I had thought that normal RD decisions were April 1st, but sounds like some hear earlier. Congrats to those who are in. Good luck to the rest.

sorry, I read your stats, but I was wondering SEW, what was your BIG hook?

Read his stats again.

great job guys!

congrats -- i think it is a new policy with the new dean and whatnot

come over to the 2010 board and ask us questions!

i was somewhat disappointed to see that my application is incomplete. but at least i can rest easy when i dont get anything until march/april

i reread the stats... but still can't figure out what the big hook is...

um.. URM with high standardized tests scores and good EC in some cases big awards(Intel)-- that pretty much gives you a huge leg up at almost any university out there

There are a limited number of Afro-Americans with her SAT score in the whole country, and of those not all have the rest of her stats.

Not everyone has a big hook, if you don't think I have one and I got in then it proves hooks are BS.

So Sewcurious r u considering Stanford (and Harvard for that matter?) You should enjoy taking your time to figure this out

I am considering it. At the moment, however, monny is my major deciding factor.

Were you recruited to play soccer for Stanford?

In any case, being the captain of a varsity soccer team is nothing to sneeze at.

did anybody get the early acceptances without big hooks?

well, i guess the letters are over...

here's to waiting for an hyp letter!

i second that
