Early Acceptances?

Hi everyone.

I live in San Diego County and applied to SDSU in October. I applied for the criminology program. My GPA is around a 3.2 and my SAT score is 1030 (just math and reading) but 1580 combined. My webportal says early march but I am reading that people are getting accepted already? I am so stressed and in the middle of finals! Haha this is my dream school. When will I hear? What are my chances?

High Stats applicants will hear Mid December and the rest of the applicants around Mid February

Calculate your eligibilty index and if you around 4000 then you have a good chance.

what is around 3670?

What is your major?? For the highly competitive majors such as Business, Engineering, CS, Nursing, you need above a 4000 for a good chance. Here is a link to the # of applicants for each major and how many were admitted but not their Stats from last year.

http://asir.sdsu.edu/reports/Apps_UG/all_app_admt_enrl_major_ug_144.pdf

My major is criminal justice.

It looks like Criminal Justice had a 18% acceptance rate last year so based on your Stats and EI, I would say it would be a Low Reach. I hope you have some backups and safeties on your list.

Son admitted today for Pre Aerospace.

Yes I was accepted a few days ago

Major: Mechanical Engineering
In-State (Not in Local Area)
CSU Calculated GPA: 3.78

EI using SAT: 4274
SAT: 1250/1600 - 1850/2400
CR: 520 M: 730 - W: 600, Essay: 9

AP Calculus AB
AP Calculus BC
AP Physics B
AP Physics C

Who do they usually admit first? Just out of curiosity… I have a 3.5 or higher CSU GPA (Don’t even know if i calculated it 100% correctly but…) and all IB classes. Applied OOS.

@gumbymom What do you mean by high stats applicants?

Admitted today:

OOS, undeclared.
1760/2400, 1160/1600
GPA 3.42 UW

Good luck to all!!

SDSU for the last few years admits applicants with an EI of around 4200 or higher along with several OOS applicants early. Many of the early acceptances are also given a chance to apply for the Honors college. This is just a pattern I have seen with the posted acceptances from 2013-current. It will depend upon how competitive each applicant pool is for each particular major.

How long does this usually go on for, before they start their “Regular” decisions…

@hemovex, you see posts from Mid-December through the end of the month for early acceptances. Regular decisons start around Mid-February through Early March.

How do you calculate EI if you took the ACT? With a 3.72 csu gpa and 29 ACT composite score.

do you know what is a good Eligibility Index using ACT score? my son did better on ACT than SAT

I heard that someone got into engineering with an ACT EI of 1088. My daughter has a 1034. Still waiting.

My younger son had an ACT EI of 1056 and was admitted for Computer Science last year in February. I would say if you have an EI of 1000+ then you stand a good chance for an acceptance

@gumbymom Oh okay thanks! My EI is 4370 for business in state but I haven’t heard back yet.
