Early Action Acceptance

STILL WAITING...mail hasn't come yet todayyy. but my url says YA_ADMIT and they want my mid-yr report...so i dont think that has anything to do w/ it but if it does...I HOPE I GOT IN!

congrats bretjohnson and zwilliams!

yeah i just got in with the provost scholarship for about 70k over four years. i'm from right outside boston.

for the RD people, how about posting stats for those of you who got in...and congrats!

where does it say that you were admitted with a provost?

by the way

1860 SAT (650 CR 550M 660 W 11 essay)
4.43
1 out of 346

Congratulations to those accepted. I hope you all matriculate at SCU. My daughter LOVES it there. When you attend accepted student weekends, you will see her working as a student ambassador. Last year, she met a couple of CC folks and parents...I'm sure she would be glad to do the same again.

jkmar21 can you please post your stats? thanks!

still haven't gotten anything yet =/

yeah, now i am freaking out that i am not going to get any merit aid. i called the admission and financial aid office and they told me that i won't know if i got a merit scholarship until January

yeah it said right in the letter that i got the provost scholarship.

stats are: 2190 SAT (760 cr) (630 m (800 w)

about 3.9 gpa but weighted a bit, i have no idea what the uw is

school doesnt rank: jesuit private in boston

good amount of ec's, comm service

...gulp. any parents in here to add something?

bretjohnson, I'm just hoping to get in and my SAT is 1880. No way I'm planning on merit aid as I hear merit aid is mostly based on your SAT. I suggest you apply for financial aid.

Didn't you guys already submit an estimated Profile for priority consideration as an EA applicant. That IS applying for financial aid. You will have to complete the FAFSA as well.

yeah i know those aren't the best scores, i was just hoping that some other leadership stuff could kind of offset that... i am just having a hard time explaining the price of santa clara to my parents.

"any parents in here to add something?"

I don't understand...what are you asking? I am in suspense as well. My D is obviously not getting the provost scholarship, so we'll have to wait and see hos the Deans thing shakes out. ot sure she'd want me posting her stats but they are not provost material.

i just mean maybe parents that have gone through this before. It just makes no sense, because when i called to see if they were sending out the scholarship awards, they said they were not. unless maybe the person talking to me isn't in the know, which probably is likely. so i should be happy that I got in, with no merit? it's just weird, because i'm valedictorian so it kind of seems like...awkward?

bret, i'm sure you could snag some amount of merit award if you have

substantial community service, i have no idea how i got mine. i'm pretty familiar

with jesuit institutions and they don't seem to be as focused on sats, they like

jesuit values like community service and leadership. good luck with everything.

well according to their website, scholarships are not solely given on rank/gpa status. take a look:
Santa Clara University - Financial AidSCU Merit-based Awards
you should be happy that you got in because even with my SAT score, which is considerably high for their school, i am getting deferred. i am sure your valedictorian status helped quite a bit in getting in but coupled with the SAT score and the increasing competitveness of the pool of candidates, getting a significant amount of merit scholarship, and one like a provost or a presidential scholarship, is extremely difficult.

Still no word yet.

prettyinpink, so your letter came? I can't believe you're deferred with your stats....I'm so sorry to hear that. I may not even get in RD. Are you from CA? I'm hoping being from the southeast will help me.

i am 99% sure because i called and asked and the lady clearly said i would find out in february. i am from dallas, tx. i am sort of confused too but i guess i can only hope to get in for RD, who knows why they deferred me..i will probably end up calling them like 223823 times and try and find out why and maybe they will get the picture that i really, really, really want to go there!! =)
