Early Action Acceptance

Im surprised, I had 1830 SAT (1230 m+cr)with 3.7 gpa, ok recs, no com. service, but good leadership in sports. I got in.

still haven't received my letter yet...i really hope i get in!!

prettyinpink, since you haven't received a letter yet, do you think that part of your app didn't get there in time and you are in the RD group?

okay i got my letter today......deferred.... =/
i guess we can only hope for the best & they said by april but i really hope i find out much sooner!! pray for me guys! =)

so sorry prettyinpink, I still can't believe that! Your stats are at the 75th percentile for SCU! Now I'm really concerned about my RD app.

...that is so weird

Why is SCU deferring everyone? I got in alright but nearly everyone else I know that applied with nearly identical stats got deffered. When does scholarship info come out?

I'm going to take a guess about some of the deferrals. When the freshmen started in 2006, the class was HUGE. Their yield was much higher than anticipated, and the class was almost 200 students larger than they predicted or could easily accommodate. They had to triple rooms and add sections of required freshmen classes, etc. I would hope that they have become a lot more careful in their offering of places since then to help them control this situation a little better than that year. Also, the school, in my opinion (I'm just a parent) is also becoming more well known outside of CA and is attracting more and better applicants in all rounds of applications.

I am surprised at how many people are being deferred. i got accepted with distinction and got a deans scholar award. good luck to everyone!

kelm1790 if you don't mind, could you post your stats?

Anybody not hear from Santa Clara that applied EA?
What does your ecampus say about being admitted, deferred, or rejected?
Mine doesn't say anything.

4.0 gpa
sat: 1880- 600v/620m/660w
EC: sports, volunteer at hospital, csf
tons of ap classes
teacher rec had connections to school
private catholic school in cali

There is already a waiting list for the next overnight!( @ Feb 28th) Just an FYI.

Deferred as well ):

I actually can't believe SCU would defer, especially since everyone here has really amazing stats!

I was admitted EA:
4.0weighted (unweighted's a bit embarrassing)
1910 SAT
29 ACT
A lot of involvement with activism (activist/"political" coordinator for a local group, much like the Truth campaign, ONE campaign), political canvassing

If anything, I think my essay and my ECs are what did it for me because my academic stats are nothing to holler about. I did come from a selective magnet school with a very small and competitive class (181 students for my grad class). I only place within the top 30% of my class- we have about 7 valedictorians who all capped the 4.8 gpa.

Congrats to all who have been accepted and I will be praying for those who were deferred :)

Anyone get their RD acceptances yet?

^ yes, 2/16. A couple of others have posted as well.

My son heard admitted RD two weeks ago.
