Early Action Acceptances

My daughter applied EA. She has notification of her acceptance up on the website. Here is the first paragraph:

Congratulations! On behalf of President David C. Hodge and the Admission Committee, it is my great pleasure to offer you admission to Miami University's Class of 2018. Though we have not yet reached our published admission notification date of February 1, after reviewing your outstanding credentials, I wanted to provide you with early notification of your acceptance!

If you applied EA, it appears that some decisions are up! She has not received anything in the mail, yet.

A friend of mine has a 3.8 and 30 and got notified this morning, so I have 2 ideas…

They are giving everyone with really high stats their acceptance letters now (with their scholarships) instead of February 1st to get people more interested in the school

Maybe due to lack of applicants?

Miami gives early notification to applicants that they consider “high achieving”. Some students who have applied regular decision have also gotten notified of their acceptance because they have high stats. Miami has done this for years. They have had a record number of applicants this year.

My D got the same notice today! Was so surprised to hear so early. Anyone know if scholarship notice only comes via regular mail?

My daughter received the physical letter today with acceptance. It also invited her into the Honors program and included an acceptance into the Business school. There was no mention of a merit scholarship in this letter (although she qualifies for the half to full OOS tuition scholarship level).

My son also received the letter. There wasn’t a mention of merit scholarships or UASP. We were hoping for a little more.

My son got a letter too. Accepted to Miami and Farmer. I hope we get notified of scholarships early too. Congrats all!

Accepted and invited to the honors program!!

My D learned of her acceptance via the website this morning. No mention of honors program or scholarship, but that would come via snail mail, correct?

Does anyone know if scholarship notification comes with the acceptance letter or in a couple months?

It should be coming at a later date. Hopefully soon!

If I remember correctly, they accept test scores through March, so scholarship notifications may be quite a ways off.

1214, yes the letter my D received yesterday said scholarship info would arrive in March. There was an invite to the honors program as well.

For those who received an invitation to the honors program, where was it in your letter? My GC and I were pretty sure I would get in, seeing as a qualify for the half-full OOS tuition scholarship, but I haven’t seen anything about it.

Sgberg 14: It was the second paragraph:

“It is our pleasure to invite you to join the University Honors Program. Students selected for admission to the honrs program are committed to their education, demonstrate strong potential for leadership and collaboration, and seek to use their diverse experiences and forms of knowledge to better the well-being of themselves and others.”

My daughter’s letter did not have any reference to scholarship info arriving in March as sschickens indicated was in their letter.

If we are invited to the honors program are we practically guaranteed to get a scholarship?

@formertarheel, I stand corrected. The letter did not mention a timeframe for scholarship announcements. It was on page 2 of the booklet that came with the letter. It says, “Late March - Final notification of most scholarship awards are mailed to eligible accepted students”. Sorry for the confusion.

There are guaranteed merit scholarships for ACT scores and GPA. They are on the scholarship website. The only thing that isn’t known is the amount for students in the highest level. Their scholarships could range from half to full tuition. Miami also gives the Stamp scholarship to a very select group of students that covers room and board as well as some other expenses. There is also a UASP scholarship which is $1000 - 2000 a year for chosen students.

Sorry, what is UASP?

@mflash
“UASP is Miami’s premier academic program for high-achieving students. The program is a collaboration between 13 distint Scholars designations comprised of the best and brightest students at the University. Each designation offers an array of academic and co-curricular opportunities designed to make the experience more challenging, stimulating, and rewarding.” - My acceptance packet.
