Early Action Accepted Candidates Weekend

Anyone familiar with the Friday Feb 20th and Saturday Feb 21st Early Action Accepted Students weekend? I noticed the itinerary is different for each day but was curious to know if my son had to choose one day which one would he benefit most from? Friday it says they can attend classes but Saturday looks like it’s geared more towards their enrolled college. If any students or parents of students can share some insight I’m sure it will be helpful to those who also received the invitations. Thanks

Saturday is the main day… Friday is just optional. I would definitely at least go to Saturday. You don’t have to choose between the two.

Is it a well attended event? We are from out of state and meeting other potential classmates would be a positive!

I don’t know yet…I am also a potential student! I think it will be very helpful for both parents and students to get a feel for the school. I think only the people who are strongly considering Nova will come…unless they live close to campus and it is convenient.

Go on Saturday! It’s a great day. It’s very well attended and very exciting. You will really see how much school spirit there is at Villanova.

We are unable to attend on the Saturday the 21st. However, was in touch with the contact on the invite and we are scheduled to attend the Friday session to sit in on a Business class and tour business school and attend luncheon. She highly recommended we attend the Friday if the Saturday wasn’t possible. Looking forward to it!!

Our D is a freshman and she attended the rescheduled events last year (snow storm cancelled the original weekend) a found it very helpful in sorting out her choices and confirming her desire to become a Wildcat. If you can arrange it, try to attend.

Anyone form California going! haha. Congrats everyone.

Question: My son was accepted EA and has already decided on Villanova. Is there much to be gained attending EA
Candidate weekend this month? We live slightly less than a two hour drive and we did a tour over the summer.

My D got defered from EA to RD. :frowning: Do they hold these same types of weekends for RD admitted students?

Mybstnw - attendance is usually a couple thousand people, usually people who are strongly considering nova come.

ConfusedmominMA - yes there are two accepted students days, one for EA one for RD. EA may attend both.

Mamahills - Friday is absolutely worthwhile to attend. By sitting in on a class you’ll be able to meet current students and generally they arrange an opportunity to talk with current students before/after. Plus Friday evening you’ll have dinner in a dinning hall with current students. Saturday is also good but its more of a presentation format with president, deans, department heads, and some faculty in attendance with some student volunteers floating around as well.

Ihopeicangetin - there is actually a “far away reception” Friday night for people from outside the east coast, usually a few ca families in attendance.

Jgofast - tough to say. It could be beneficial to attend to meet some student a few years ahead of you that could give advice on what classes to take, but you’ll also have that opportunity once enrolled

We are attending both days–D got in to buisness school. We know a current student who loves it there, but we have not visited the campus yet. What other schools are you/your children considering? This has been quite the roller coaster ride, trying to decide what is the best fit, financially feasible, etc.

@kfjnah Thanks! Do you (or anyone else) happen to know the date of the RD candidates day? Like to get things on the calendar. Haven’t been able to find it on the website.

@HuskyMom - My D is also applying for the business school at Villanova. Along with BC, Lehigh, and UCONN. Already in at Isenberg SOM at UMass Amherst (and got admitted to the Honors College too).

S also accepted EA into VSB but attending Saturday only - will have to miss out on the Friday Honors visit. We are attending this event to compare campus vibe versus other schools we plan to visit soon as he’s admitted EA to Notre Dame and Northeastern. HuskyMom- I also agree it is quite a roller coaster ride and in the end finances and fit may drive ultimate decision.

@led89rv I guess that’s life, but it so hard to compare when you don’t know the final price tag yet! My D got accepted to the honors program as well and we are attending that session whenever it is. I can PM you and let you know anything unique and exciting that we may learn!
@confusedMominMA Similar schools here–accepted into CSOM at BC, loved our visit there! Accepted to PC, Bryant, Stonehill, QU, Penn State, etc. Waiting on UCONN, think she’ll get in, but not sure if I want her to go there. Older sis goes there and is just partying her way through, LOL. But if the finances are acceptable, think it will come down to BC or Villanova.

@huskymom- figured you must have one at UCONN. Me too! My S is a sophomore in mech engineering. He does nothing but study. He found out 2 yrs ago on Feb 8th but they seem to be taking longer this year. I don’t think UCONN will give enough FA to make it reasonable to go there. I’ll be thrilled if she gets into BC and Villanova! Then we need FA, otherwise it will be UMass. She is starting to really appreciate the advantages of “no loans” that Umass will offer. Good luck!!

@ConfusedMominMA‌ I don’t believe they have announced the date of RD candidates day yet. They’ll email an invitation to accepted students when they do

We are attending and my S is sitting in on an 11:30 class. We are also registered for “an afternoon with honors”. And we are registered for Saturday’s day of events. But how do we sign up for the dinner? It looked like the dinner invite was part of the “philosophy of education” seminar, but we can’t attend that because it conflicts with the afternoon with honors. Does anybody know?

Thanks!

We are coming to both Friday and Saturday. My d is accepted into Engineering. Looking forward to it since it will be our first time on campus.
