Early Action Admission?!

HI,
I'm confused about how EA works. Can one apply to multiple schools EA or just one. How does EA work, and what does it mean? What makes it advantageous?

it depends
if the school is regular EA, then yes, you can apply to as many as you want
if the school is SCEA (single choice), then you can only apply to that school early.

o ok thanks

can you apply to a school ED and then a few EA?

Generally speaking, the answer is yes.

ED: you can apply to only one ED; if you are accepted by the ED school, you have to attend that school

EA: you can apply to several colleges early with EA in addtion to ED. EA is non-binding, which means you do not have to attend the school if you are accepted.

SCEA: you cannot apply to other ED or SCEA if you apply a SCEA. But you can apply other non-binding EA and foreign colleges. When you are accepted by the SCEA school, you do not have to attend that school.

um... I'm pretty sure you CANNOT apply EA anywhere else if you apply SCEA, hence the single-choice part. Also, definitely check the schools EA policy, because some places (like Georgetown) have EA but DO NOT allow you to apply ED anywhere.

how is that possible? that defeats one of the points of EA...

Hmm.. Does ED give you a better chance of getting in than EA and SCEA?. and you can apply to ED and SCEA?

no..........

in most cases, it is easier to get into a school ED than a school EA.

and no, you cannot apply to any other schools if you apply to a school SCEA

Bob, you can apply to other schools if you apply to a school SCEA... I thought you just couldn't apply anywhere ED or EA, that means you can still send out RD apps if you want to right?

Yes, you can still apply RD to any other schools if you apply SCEA.

ea is still good bc u can still choose between other acceptances
