I applied Early Action to UMich, but I also applied early decision elsewhere. UMich said that they will start releasing decisions in december, and that everyone who had applied early action by nov 1 will get their decision by dec 23. Does anyone know if I might get my decision before dec 15 (early decision reply)?

Let me rephrase myself. Does anyone know when the first admissions decisions will start coming out?

Nobody knows for certain because of the whole switch to EA (and common app) from rolling admissions. My guess is that they’ll start releasing decisions sometime at the end of November, beginning of December, but that’s just a guess. When did you send in your app?

Anyways, by applying ED, no matter what your UMich decision is, don’t you have to go if you get accepted ED?

Yeah, if I get in ED to the other school (Duke), I do have to go there. I’m just curious as to when I might hear back from Michigan, as I’m one of those very jittery kids who just wants to know the answer. I applied around mid-October btw.

I applied at the end of October, the weekend of the deadline. I really hope their process is still a rolling one, as I would like to know an answer sooner rather than later. But I’m guessing I will receive my decision sometime closer to the 23rd, since I sent in my application so close to the deadline. Good luck Ballinallday.

Good luck to you as well

I also applied, and I submitted the Friday before deadline.
I’ve heard people say they heard back within a month so maybe the beginning of December?
Good luck to those who applied.

Things have changed at Michigan in the last couple of years, so I suspect the “heard back within a month” “guesstimate” will not be hold true. Two years ago, my S applied on Oct 1 and had his decision on Nov 21. But some students who applied after he did heard in late October. This year, Michigan has said no decisions until December, but certainly they have already made some, likely many, decisions; they are just holding them. I suspect the notification of decisions will not necessarily be a function of when you submitted your application unless you submitted VERY close to the Nov. 1 deadline. I think Michigan will deliver a HUGE number of decisions very early in December. Hopefully we’ll start seeing that here when it starts happening.

i’m curious as to when they’re releasing decisions as well. i’m applying to duke ED as well! but everyone’s saying no decisions until december so…

do the admissions decisions come out via snail mail? or can you somehow check on that wolverine website thing?

The decision is emailed to you.

Admissions will be mailed - it says so on the university’s website. It’s also my understanding that Wolverine Access will indicate whether the decision has been mailed or not but it won’t tell you whether you got accepted, rejected, or deferred. Does anyone know if they mail in-state students first? (I applid from Texas, so I’m out of state) Or is it in the order in which you applied to the school? Has anybody gotten an acceptance yet? Good luck to everyone!

The decision will be on Wolverine Access. On the link where it now says “view credentials” another link will be added that says: “view decision”. When my daughter was accepted 3 years ago when she clicked on the link it said "congratulations, you have been accepted…etc etc, and then it played Hail to The Victors with a video of the marching band.

@momsam When did you/your daughter know to go on Wolverine Access to check? Was there an e-mail saying to go online and check?

two years ago, (daughter is current sophomore at Mich), my daughter received a totally unexpected email in her regular email account (not wolverine access related), and it was a video from someone in the math department welcoming her to the U of M (she applied as a math major, but has since transferred into Ross)…it was a great video, with the marching band and all…i always wondered if they matched everyone’s video up with specific major…AFTER receiving the email, i believe she went on wolverine access and her status had shown the acceptance, letter came snail mail a few days later. Daughter #1 was super lucky, she got this email October 31. Ironically, we had called the admissions office 2 days earlier to check on release dates and they had just quoted the website…admission decisions will be released no later than…, which was way later than the october 31 date…so as we patiently wait for an admissions decision for daughter #2, i just keep praying that it’s WAY BEFORE the BY Dec 23rd specified date…this change to common app and early action has really made this way more stressful

My daughter checked her Wolverine Access account regularly and found her status change on a Tuesday morning in early Nov. I don’t remember if she got an e-mail. She received her letter in the mail about a week later.

MY D’s WA has two entries; application status and something about credential. Does the applicaiton status change to view decision if a decision has been made? Thanks in advance for the response.

View Decision will be added to the other links that are already there.

What difference does it make that you applied someplace else ED? If you get into your ED school you have to withdraw regardless of Michigan’s EA decision.

This is the first year of EA at Michigan. Living in town and having talked to a couple of the Admissions personnel I get the distinct feeling they’re not sure exactly how it’s going to work either. At it’s most basic, if you applied by Nov 1 and designated Early Action then you’ll know by December 23rd. There are unsubstantiated rumors that if you applied EA and got your app in well before the deadline that you may hear sooner. The point is if you get an ED decision on the 15th it won’t matter what Michigan tells you on the 23rd (except maybe for your ego).

Relax, Christmas will be here soon enough.
