Early Action Admit Weekend

My child is an EA admit, but is unable to attend this weekend's events.

Any information or opinions on the programs, information disseminated and weekend activities would be greatly appreicated.

We visited in the Spring and plan on visiting again before a decision is made, but any input about this weekend would be helpful to all EAs not able to attend.

Thanks!!

My daughter and I are unable to attend the Villanova EA Admitted Student Program as we are going to Boston College on 2/3/07 for their EA Program for students admitted into the Honors program. What are the odds that both Villanova and BC would have admitted student programs the same weekend? I'm sure there are many other students overlapping. My D loved Villanova- but we had to make a choice for Saturday. I agree with DuckPondParent-any insights would be appreciated

im going tomarrow, ill definetly post what went on and such

the whole day was wonderful!
the programs were very focused on your prospective school so i can only really give the business perspective.
first thing we did were the tours, and it was freezing outside! we went to a freshman dorm and the only room we saw was a forced triple. it seemed very cramped but not too bad at all if you just have a double. we also visited the library and the business building.
next, we went to academic presentations. i attended one for management/international business and the next for marketing. we got outlines of what business students would take thoughout their four years and the best part is that you get to jump right into business classes your first semester. during you junior/senior year, you do many group oriented projects.
study abroad is HUGE at villanova, almost every student i talked to had gone abroad and had so many wonderful things to say about it. you can get paid internships and stay for the summer or a semester. its sounds like they have a great program for any student who wants to go abroad, most popular is either fall or spring of junior year.
one of the best things about the day was the atmosphere on campus. there was a huge basketball game that day against louisville and all the students were hyped up and decked out in gear on their way to the game. it was nice to see everyone running around to make the train, yelling at their friends to hurry up, and just going crazy about the game.
hope i helped!

hey im a freshman vsb student and i hope u come to nova. I'm in one of the forced triples on south and its really not that bad in terms of space and you do get some kind of a refund which is a huge perk. Taking business classes freshman year is great, it can be challenging but overall you really learn a lot right away. And yes I was one of the people walking in the freezing cold to the bus to go watch us beat louisville. lets go nova!

I was visiting my freshman D this weekend and saw all the groups of freezing EA admits. Congrats to you all. Due to the noon Bball game, you were able to witness some of the campus atmosphere. The campus would have been very quiet on a non-bball Saturday as most students would have been sleeping. My D is in a forced triple and can't wait to be in a double or single next year. There is just enough room for three students but the cramp space does get old. The way to eliminate the forced triple to to get your deposit in early. If you are EA and Nova is your choice, send in your deposit now---you'll only have to deal with one roommate. :)

The room I saw was a double, it was a decent size. However, they had the heat on like no othet, but it was a good break from the freezing cold tour...

Many dorms have individual heat/ac systems in each room. I know that rooms in Katherine and St. Monica each have their own heater/ac. This could be a problem as my D has found out. One of her roommates likes it hot and the other including herself likes the room cold. They have tried to compromise but one roommate is not abiding by the rules they have agreed to. The authorities in the Residence Life department are now involved. Should be interesting!!!!

Yes heat can be a huge issue. I know many people that have gotten into fights with their roomates over this. There was actually a leak in my unit and I had to do a maintenance request. Seriously think about heat/air-conditioning when you do a roomate contract.
