Are you allowed to apply Early decision and Early action. For instance, Northwestern is my #1 school and i plan to apply there for early decision, but i would also like to apply to UChicago as a "backup"

Uchicago doesnt it do ED only?... yah your allowed 1 ED school and as many schools u wanna do that offer EA...UNLESS its SCEA- single choice early action, in which u can only apply to 1 EA school and 1 ED school... thats my 2 cents from what ive gathered...

^ No, UChicago is EA.

I was wondering if I could apply for early decision to one of my colleges and then apply early actions for others?

UChicago's EA program is non-binding and non-restrictive so you can apply there at the same time as you apply to Northwestern ED. (But some other schools, such as Boston College, do place restrictions on their EA programs.)

If you get into Northwestern, you will have to withdraw your application from UChicago immediately.
