My son was accepted and while we weren’t sure we remained confident. This is a great thread for future students who are wanting GT.

SAT 2080
AP 7
GPA recalculated 4.0
14 of class/319
Continued upward trend from 9-11
OOS

While his stats are good his CR was low, but his writing could have off set this #. What I believe benefited my son was quality over quantity. He built upon a childhood passion with one of his ec’s showing dedication, while learning about failure, commitment, sacrifice and hard work. He was able to link this ec experience to his volunteer DARE work as a counselor, helping 4,5,6th graders learn about perseverance. He also built upon his academic strengths participating in HS events, i.e. math league, science ec’s, Leo club,

His essay conveyed who he was and where he wanted to go in life, concisely with space left over. He is clearly a less is more candidate.

Overall, GT sets justified academic parameters. They are trying to choose the best students that will succeed and contribute to building GT for the future as the ones have done in the past.

Congratulations to all who receive their acceptances.

SO HAPPY!!! I’ve wanted GT forever. Definitely my no1.

Don’t be too confident though! I have a friend who is ranked 3/600 students at a very competitive instate high school, who got a 2360 on the SAT, will have well over 10+ APs by graduation, and is a straight A student, with smashing ECs that got deferred because she figured he wouldn’t have to work on the essay and submitted a very mediocre one.

According to the Atlanta Journal Georgia Tech received 3000 applications for the Oct. 1 EA deadline. They accepted 1740 (58%) and deferred 25%. The average GPA 3.92-4.11 and SAT 2000-2200 with an average of 8 AP classes. Tech has received 5309 applications for the next EA deadline of Nov.1.

Hi all - My daughter was accepted to Tech:), but has applied to a few others. Tech is probably where she will attend and I wanted to put down a housing deposit BUT has anyone noticed the ridiculously high housing deposit required ($600). Was this the case in years past?
When an older daughter went to UGA a couple of years ago the housing deposit was like $35., so this was a complete surprise. Anybody applied for housing yet? Is there a great risk of not getting the dorm requested if we wait until April?

You can wait until spring and you are sure she will attend. It is not like UGA’s system.
Most of the freshman are on east and all the dorms are very similar. If she decides she wants west, she will have a decent chance for that too.
