My early action application to UChicago was deferred today. UChicago is by far my top choice and I would’ve applied Early Decision in November, but my family is unable to commit financially. Since I sent in financial aid information with my EA application, does the FA office already have a package/estimate created for me? If so, is it possible to call them for the details of such a package before committing to the EDII pool?
call them and check. You may have to call admissions as well since this would affect your admissions chances.
I doubt they would give you a real FA package without an acceptance. They would probably direct you to the financial aid calculator, which you should do. If it’s any help, you are allowed to break an ED contract if you don’t get “enough” financial aid.
The answer to the first question is NO because this was us two years ago. They won’t have any FA package available yet. Call FA anyway and try to get through to an officer so they can help you understand better your financial commitment. They won’t commit to an expected contribution but they should be able to help you at least understand a potential range. Check out the online NPC as well.
