You are at an advantage as an international applicant. Sewanee is trying to increase its diversity. Being a small LAC in a rural area, Sewanee doesn’t attract as many internationals as larger, urban schools. IMO, the beauty of its campus makes up for its rural location.
@Overtheedge Thanks for the little inspiration. By the way are you an alum or current student, sounds like you really know the school.
@zimboy21 I know right?
Right!*
@snow30 Hmm. When a school sends you an e-mail to demonstrate your interest, is that supposed to be a good sign for that student? The only school that sent me that was NYU and I’m not even dreaming of impressing them. Sewanee uploaded a note tab I should fill about how I had demonstrated my interest for Sewanee and I pretty much wrote something tangible. I don’t know if that counts as an e-mail too?! PS, I’m Nigerian too, Igbo actually. I have a schoolmate who’s a senior at Sewanee now.
I think they pretty much send those emails to everyone. It helps them make selections that will raise their yield. If anything it can only hurt your chances if you don’t take the survey.
Anyway, I’m still optimistic decisions will be this week.
OK, so I just called admission office now and decisions come out tomorrow for both domestic and international. If you doubt me, call them yourselves!
Tomorrow? I would have thought early Feb at the earliest. Still, better to know sooner rather than later.
@iocbobby10 Wow! Tomorrow! :-/ . were you also told the time
I even called twice to confirm. Um, about the exact time, She told me tomorrow evening. Doing the math for Nigerian time will be any moment from tomorrow night. I hate I’m going to stay awake! This is all Bates College over again!
Hey guys! I’m from Italy btw. I tried to get my toefl waived too but I got 113/120 which is way higher than what they ask, so if anything, it will help. As for decisions, I’m stalking their twitter and facebook pages but no sign of decisions coming out today, though as Bobby said, the admissions counsellor on the phone said it is going to be today!
@Livvy97 Well the wait will finally soon be over.
I hope so! Where else are you applying @snow30 ?
@livvy97 Bates, Grinnell, wesleyan, colby, Denison, pitzer,Bowdoin… And U?
@Livvy97 You?
Did you get into any of those? I got rejected by Bates (ED1), and I’m applying EA to Earlham and St John’s College, Annapolis. Having studied in the UK, I’ve also applied to UK schools, and I already have a place at Manchester University to study Politics and Modern History
Good luck with your unis! I know pitzer sounds awfully selective, but I’m sure you’ll manage! Did you submit SATs to Sewanee? @snow30
@Livvy97 I have not received any decision from any school yet, Sewane will be my first. And i didnt submit my test scores to sewanee as well as most of the schools i applied to. You? And would you mind sharing your stats, i will also share mine.
@Livvy97 my unweighted rank is 2 out of 50, unweighted GPA of 4.76/5.( my school does not weight GPA neither does it offer AP classes). I didnt submit SAT’s but my SAT is in the early 1700s. I was part of a volunteering service in my school, elected as treasurer to be exact, elected a student government role, house captain, soccer team member, captain of athletics team, captain of hockey team, member of mathematics, Jets and ICT club .I had different awards(school awards) from academics to sports. i didn’t submit test scores.
