I believe the letters were mailed on Wednesday and then REA applicants in South Bend received their letters yesterday

@dancing1‌

I’m from South Bend and was deferred also
Legacy - have 4 family members working there currently
GPA - 3.95 uw, school doesn’t weigh
ACT - 34 composite
EC - swimming, assistant middle school swim club, lifeguard, NHS, Academic Super Bowl, Notre Dame ChemE Lab work, world champion equestrian
Essays/ Letters - really good I thought
I was also able to forward my app to EA after not being matched through QB NCM

I got deferred probably because I’m white, catholic, and from the local area but I’m not sure

Big envelope = good news? Small envelope = bad news? Michigan State is the only one my son has gotten back so far. I don’t want to open it if it comes in the mail today, but I’d like to know what’s inside…

@greeninohio big envelope means acceptance, small envelope is defer or deny

To npswimmer44 - I am a mom and I am using my sons account to stalk notification letter posts. I just wanted you to know I have been very impressed with your attitude and helpful posts to others. You are clearly an exceptional individual. My son is a very qualified candidate but if he is deferred or denied I can now show him your profile and he will know he is not alone. Again very impressed with your reaction. It is very clear you are going to be very successful wherever destiny takes you. Your parents must be very proud. saxysax mom.

@npswimmer44 you have great stats. I am getting even more scared!!

@npswimmer44 Is your legacy due to the 4 (wow!) ND work connections or a parent who graduated?

You have great stats and rigorous courses, keep the faith! Your acceptance in April will be that much sweeter.

I apologize to everyone (especially @GRWH11‌) if any of my comments came off as rude last night regarding whether or not the letters were actually sent; I wasn’t in the best mood having been deferred but I shouldn’t have allowed that to make my comments seem short and rude. I wish everyone here the best of luck as they find out their decisions within the next few days, and I have absolutely no doubt that each and every one of you would make an EXCELLENT student at Notre Dame. Regardless of whether you all are accepted, deferred, or rejected, just know that everyone has an incredibly bright future ahead of them and this decision does not change that. Again, I apologize, and wish the best to everyone here.

@saxysax thank you so much! I can’t tell you how much that means to me! I have been having a few rough days and you definitely brightened my day. I wish your son good luck, and hope he gets accepted!

@latoswitz thank you! My guidance counselor said that I may have been deferred for being a very typical applicant (white, male, Catholic, from the area), I’m sure you will do great! :)

@GoldDaises my father attended Notre Dame, and currently four members of my family work on campus. My uncle is the head of the fire department, my brother works with him, and two cousins are professors. The common app asked me for relations to faculty/staff, so I figured it had at least a little sway in admissions  thank you for the compliments! I am definitely waiting until April and praying for the best :)

@npswimmer44‌ you seem to have done everything you can. I’m sure its difficult for you right now especially because you were seemingly deferred for something you cannot control. best of luck in the future.

@mnc321 I think we all understand your frustration. Hang in there! (I know easy for me to say).

Mail just came!
Big envelope in MInnesota :)

@mnc321‌ Haha no worries. I can definitely understand, and I’m pretty sure any one of us can agree that being deferred sucks. A lot.

@Saxysax‌ thank you!! I’m not giving up just yet, just waiting til regular decision  I hope your letter comes soon and that it’s a big envelope!!!

@GRWH11‌ haha it does, but it’s just life and it could be worse! But I hope your letter arrives soon and that it’s an acceptance letter :)

@mnc321 not a problem! We’re here to support you as you work towards the big YES in April!

@MnMom56 how exciting! I am sure your student is in school so you must be bursting at the seams. Enjoy that special moment when he/she returns!

Mail has arrived in Wisconsin and nothing from ND—gonna be a long 24 hours. I hope it’s in tomorrow’s mail. Ugh…

Nothing in PA.

@GRWH11‌ What part of PA? I applied RD but have a few friends who applied ea

Nothing here in northern Alabama
