CA decisions are out - Son just got accepted to Music Industry!! 3.8UW/4.1W, 2080 SAT, strong music industry resume. I’m guessing it was a specialized program thing where he fit in well. Also, great essay and I assume great recommendations. Plus, showed a lot of interest and visited 2x from CA. Good luck to everyone else!

@longball9229 Nope, I’m from California and I just got deferred. Check your portal, I didn’t get an email

Accepted to College of Engineering!

Hmmmm I wonder if they are deferring because they didn’t get through all of the applications…like-- “we don’t have time to read the essay or letters, but the scores are ok, so put in the defer pile, and we’ll get to them…” or something like that? Or even, “let’s defer everyone, because that’s what the ivys do…”

so many of you should have gotten in, no question!!!

People keep saying it but once again, NEU treats deferrals different than the ivies. Many of those being deferred will still have a very good shot in RD. Probably most above a 2100 or equivalent deferred will probably get in. In EA they look holistically and look for special things or just flat out amazing stats. That holistic approach will still apply in RD they will just be slightly less picky. So those deferred, it sucks but don’t give up hope.

@pengsphils A lot of people got deferred and a NU Freshman said that not as many people expected got in after being deferred.
Northeastern is getting harder to get into and i thought i would have a chance because of the sat scores 3 years ago. clearly, the standards have increased a lot :/
