Early Action Decision?

It says on the website that students receive an Early Action decision January 31. Does that mean BY the 31 or ON the 31? I applied through Questbridge and wasn't matched, so my application is supposed to be forwarded to Early Action.

Thanks in advance!

Historically they have been sent a little early, but there are no guarantees. The website date means the decisions will be sent no later then January 31. Count on that date. If decisions are ready earlier it will be announced on Dean Js blog, Notes From Peabody, and social media.

Okay, thank you! I was hoping that maybe they sent each individual person’s decision as soon as it was made, but oh well.

They are sent all at once. I’d recommend taking a look at Dean J’s blog from January to get an idea of what to expect. Last year decisions were quite early. The previous year they were just a few days early, which I think is a more reasonable expectation (especially given the difficulties with the CApp). I’m linking January 2012 which would be two years ago. It gives a good idea of what EA timeline may look like. When an entire month is linked you are reading backwards, so scroll to the bottom and read up.
*remember RD is 1/1 so some entries will be directed at those applicants

Thank you so much! I don’t know if I will survive until January, but at least I won’t be checking my email every ten minutes any more!

All the way to January 31st? Damn that’s pretty long to wait. Thought it might be quicker.

We have about 15,000 applications to read. We read over the holidays and keep some pretty odd hours to do it.

I guess we could release earlier if we weren’t as thorough, but I don’t like that idea.

Hang in there. :)

Last year was around Jan 12-13
