Early action help!!

I have two questions.

  1. If a recommendation is submitted after the deadline, will MIT still consider the application as having been submitted on time?
  2. I emailed MIt with the above question but I copied and pasted the same question I had sent Caltech and I forgot to change the school name. So the MIT person replied saying that they will not speak for Caltech. It seemed like a humorous reply, but I feel like I may have made a huge mistake. The people who you email asking for admissions advice are not the people who actually read your application are they?? Please say no!

1.The admissions office gives leeway for things beyond your control like teacher recommendations. Not only that, but they will let you know if something from your application is missing and give you time to resubmit it.
2. No! This is such a normal mistake and can happen to anyone. It will not negatively impact your application. this is not something you have to worry about!

Don’t know the answer to your first question, but I am sure that many students how apply to MIT also apply to Caltech. There is a rivalry between the two schools but also respect for each other. It is a laughable error but that’s about all.

OK thank you guys! I feel much better.

  1. Yes no problem
  2. I am sorry but if you are not a marvelous student you probably missed your chance. This is a mistake that thousands of students do and the best way to show schools that you do not care them that much. If you get accepted, please tell everybody around you are the luckiest man alive and write a book about it.
