I was deferred. Don’t want to wait anymore…

Accepted. No merit-bummer. Can anyone lend us $225,000?

Can anyone shed light as to what is meant by " Modified 2/7/13 13:22 " below admission decision. The word modified is puzzling to me. Did the committee change their mind regarding merit … Did they change their decision at 13:22 regarding deferral and opted to accept? Can anyone shed light on what modifies means ? Anyone have the word modified below the admission decision?

Yes I have the word modified. I think it just means that the decision letter was uploaded.

D was accepted – very pleased, of course, but no merit indicated.

Thanks all for the input and congrats to all! I wish merit aid was in the package! It’ll be difficult to accept the offer of acceptance when merit was given from other fine LAC! Dickinson is a great school ! I guess it’s a good problem to have!

My daughter was also accepted.

Accepted with merit, but still financially out of reach for my parents.

No college addresses the need based aid package in the admit letter. That comes later and may make any school affordable, or not. Congrats to all who got good news today and stay positive everyone who didn’t.

Accepted with merit! So pumped!!

DD accepted with merit. Happy for her!

accepted with merit! Im super happy. I didn’t receive any other financial aid though, which was kind of disappointing, because it will be very difficult for me to attend without more aid. Does anyone know if that was the final package, or do they update it? (my impression was that was the final package)

Accepted with $40,000 merit!

I think it was the final package. I got a 15k/year merit scholarship, and a Dickinson Grant, a student loan, and a work-study thing was also listed to create an overall financial aid package. Still not sure if it’s doable…

If Dickinson includes all of this merit/financial aid/work study info in their acceptance letters, then it’s no wonder their early acceptance notification date is so late. It’s actually more impressive than schools simply giving you a yes or no on Jan 15 and then waiting a month or more later to get aid info. Good job Dickinson.

My daughter was accepted with merit as well. She has a few more EA schools she is waiting on and one ED school but she was happy to be accepted here with the scholarship offer.

nouve55, if the other college offering merit is comparable to Dickinson in rankings, ask the Dickinson FA office if they can match the offer. I don’t know if Dickinson will do that, but some LACs will. It can’t hurt to ask.

@ intparent: thank you for your suggestion! I never realized that you can approach the financial
Aid office of a LAC to match the merit award given by a comparable school!

As long as the schools really are comparable in ranking. My D got good merit from Dickinson (Benjamin Rush scholarship), but none from Mount Holyoke. We did discuss with Mount Holyoke, but had no luck getting any merit aid from them. However, the schools aren’t really comparable in ranking (Mt. Holyoke is ranked higher). I definitely have heard from other posters out here that they HAVE had some luck with this, though. Usually the college that has not given aid will ask you to get them a copy of the award letter from the other college so they can review it. It really can’t hurt to ask. As you may have seen on other threads, my D ended up attending Dickinson and had a great experience, so good luck!

Is there anybody who has received acceptance letter by mail?
