Typically, do schools tend to wait until their "date" to send out admissions notification for early action? For example, if a school's notification date is "by 1/1," should I expect to receive notification a day or two before that date, or maybe in early December?

I know for some schools, Early Decision notifications are supposed to come out December 15th. However, last year I know of several people who actually found out prior to that date. (Dec 11-14)

I'm not sure about EA though.

The schools try to send it out so it gets to you on the day of notification. But as bank1019 said, some people find out a little earlier or a little later.

I've been wondering the same thing. Mine is supposed to be mailed by tomorrow, so I'm assuming I should get it in the next week..

how do colleges notify me ? via email or postal mail ?
on the notification date, can I call the office to know the answer ?

legend.dracula- It's different for every school. A lot of schools (for example, MIT) release the decisions on their admissions website or in email, but there are also plenty of schools who only send you notification via postal mail. Check the school's website.
