What are the advantages of doing early action vs. early decision? Other than hearing whether you’ll get in early and not worrying about it until spring time, by applying early, will a person get more/less advantages of getting in? Or, is it better just to apply regular decision?
Thoughts?

There have been many threads on this. Early action is non-binding. If you're accepted, you can relax and submit your other apps and wait for results. Early decision is BINDING. No, you can't beg off. The disadvantage is you can't compare financial aid offers as in RD. For elite colleges, ED is definitely an advantage, as some schools fill a third of their classes through ED.

I know what they are, i was just wondering if applying for one of these will have better advantages over regular decision.

Applying ED almost always gives the candidate a significant admissions advantage. Whether EA is advantageous is often debated. Some believe that it provides an advantage, some believe that it is neither advantageous nor disadvantageous, and others say that it as actually more difficult to gain admission during EA because it tends to attract stronger students who don't need more time to improve their stats and application.

EDIT: I love the smell of run-ons in the morning! :D Cut me some slack, it's 2:15 am

Do not apply ED if you also plan to apply for finan aid since you lose the ability to compare FA packages, and you may bind yourself to a large payment.
